I finished the book last night. It was a great read and left me wanting more ASAP. Scott, are you still planning only a 3 book series? There's potential for the story to go on for many more.

He's at Cold Wars this whole weekend - I'm sure he'll answer you and I for one hope its positive! Q - see my OOBs for both of those in the book; Scott gave me permission to make those up & use his book maps for the "map" of the tables. I've also added a new rule which I'll think I'll call the Unit Ratio Rule henceforth - a way to show larger that normal units on a battlefield using the basic (company/battery, platoon, squad) sized units on the table. Check them out and see what you think - hows the painting hand btw?

Hi Guys! Back from Cold Wars! I met with my publisher and my editor for dinner and we made some general plans for the next eight books in the series This is all very tentative and will depend greatly on sales (so far they are very good) so don't get too excited. But if things go well there could be three connected trilogies. In other news, a friend of mine put on an All Quiet game which was well-attended. One of the dealers had quite a bit of ALL Quiet stuff and it seemed to be selling. And I'm exhausted!

A major motion picture coming soon?
About the book. I am curious about brevit ranks. That was still a common practice during WWI time frame? My experience with the more recent volunteer army is "frocking" and that was very rare. I could be wrong but back in those days officers tended to have a lower rank for their responsibilities compared to today? Especially since an officer could spend a very long time at a given rank in the small peacetime army and therefore more experienced?

Brevet ranks were very common in the Civil War and were still being used as late as World War II. In 1942 Eisenhower was wearing 3 stars, but it was only a brevet. His permanent rank was Lieutenant Colonel!
The army used brevet ranks during times of rapid expansion so they could fill all the new positions being created in the table of organization. Getting a formal promotion approved could be a lengthy process, especially at the higher ranks, so the brevets allowed them to fill those positions quickly without all the paperwork. Brevets were common in the Civil War, WWI and WWII (and, of course, the Great Martian War).

God hearing about a vendor selling AQMF stuff makes me insane that I may have missed out on getting some of the last few models I want, namely some drones, a slaver, scientist, harvester, and a MKIV. I gave my dad a copy of the book last week and I'm waiting to ask him what he thinks. His tastes run similar to mine so I'm pretty sure he's enjoying it as much as I did. I hope the book keeps doing well and I'll keep telling like minded friends to check it out.

The French may be heading for Mexico and I could see them getting seriously involved in Texas when they get cut off from the US and declare their independence (which I will keep from Ernie's timeline). So, I hope some interesting things will be happening! Nope. This is where I get irrationally violent. I can understand Texas self administrating as a wartime extingency, but break away from the US? Nope. Be branded as traitors to the Republic and the human race. Teddy would lead another contingent of Rough Riders to put paid vile seccessionists. And woe to the European power that tries to take advantage.
