I love the book. It is taking time to get through it due to limited free time. I am helping out caring for my elderly father. Love the story. Love the characters and martian POV. I will post a positive review when I complete the read. So far... awesome!

I received 'War of the Worlds - the Anglo-Martian War of 1895' by Mike Burton today but not Scott's book ordered from Amazon.ca at the same time.

Ack - I've been reading my copy this morning and will write glowing report to Amazon. A suggestion for his next book is an index page and at least an index of map pages. Easier to get back and forth to. Now I'm going to have to get his Terran book as well.

Interesting suggestion, Morgan! I doubt my publisher will go along (and he controls the formatting). Novels almost never have indexes!

ok scott - ty for quick reply - one further question non-book. Your listing at Paper Terrain for the 3mm Railroads indicates theres a listing for 3mm RR buildings, but I didn't see any smaller than 6mm?? And congrats !!! They Napys look great! Those are huge downloads as you say. Looks like I need to start buying 10mm buildings. Your ACW were in 6mm right?? sigh, love to buy your stuff, but, its getting really crowded with all the scales I'm getting. Storage after assembly is becoming an issue - you have any suggestion on that??

Morgan,
If you plan to buy the Napoleonics, I'd strongly suggest using 6mm buildings. And no, there is no 3mm version of the railroad buildings.

Okay, I'm sure you know your product - and I'm nice and 'deep' in your 6mm bldgs. Which begs the question, are the 10-12mm bldgs more towards the 12mm end of things and thus "6mm". Its all goods - ty for the heads up - more to spend on other stuff. Dang, well guess don't 'need' RR bldgs for 2mm AQ demo stuff. The trains & tracks will do

Enjoyed the book.
Hard to imagine one hundred years later how agonizingly slow communications and then marshaling any sizable military force would have been compared to today.
Do you have a listing of all the landing sites world wide? Does North America just have New Mexico, Idaho, and Alberta?
As a Kansan enjoyed how you included Mr. William White, intrepid newspaper man.

Mike, Glad you liked it, don't forget to post a review on Amazon! I did make a map and there are actually 5 landing sites in North America. One in Alaska, one in Alberta, one in Idaho, one in New Mexico and one in Mexico. Actually, there's another in Greenland, which I guess counts as part of North America. The Martians are not at all leery about landing in frozen parts of the world. Yes, Mr. White was sort of a last minute addition. I realized there would be newsmen with the army so I went back to my Roosevelt biography and found one who knew him well. He happened to be from Kansas. Doing the research for the book was a lot of fun. Aside from Andrew, Becky and Frank, nearly all of the other named characters (aside from miscellaneous privates and corporals) are all real people who I researched. Like the pilot, who in real life was the first military aviator to be killed in a plane crash. In my story he survives and is then nearly killed by the Martians Morgan, Glad you enjoyed it! Don't forget to post a review on amazon--it really matters. The Martian year is a little less than two Earth years, so a tenth of a cycle is around 2.4 months. And PLEASE don't go back to every section header comparing the cycle to the month! I might have made a few errors here and there since I was writing a story, not creating a calendar

LOL - nah the only reason I asked was I was trying to figure what a 'quarter' of a cycle was. Review is on its way tomorrow. One other thing - its copywrited so I can't do a OOB for the two battles pictured can I?? The first is rather outsized, but the second is an awesome balanced thing. Just wondering?

BTW - the use of 'real' life to characters is one of the things I love about alternative history books in general. Much like the OOBs I've done with IRL names, its a lot of fun to project what a given character might be like in AQ. Jimmy Hendrix in command against the 'purple haze' virals, British Primier league soccer players as commanders, and of coarse the faith of villian of history like J. Stalin, A. Hitler and all. TY again for a great read.

Well, as the holder of the copyright, I think I can allow you to do the OOBs for the two battles in the book
