The cover image probably looks familiar. It was one of the images used by AD in the kickstarter. A really good thing my publisher bought the rights to use it before AD collapsed!
On the subject of the book and the future books I still plan to write: The first book adheres closely to the canon established by Ernie in the All Quiet background. But this first book only goes from 1907 to early 1909. Our original plan was to continue to follow canon with future books. But AD is gone now and so is our agreement with Ernie. At this point I am basically free to write anything I (and my publisher) darn well please. Canon is now whatever I choose to make it. If someone buys the All Quiet rights then my publisher may want to negotiate some new agreement with them to re-establish the official All Quiet link. Or maybe not.
But what I'm saying is that right now the future of the Great Martian War is flexible and I'm seriously thinking about veering away from some of Ernie's 'history'. Specifically, I want to get the bloody Germans and French (and Russians and Japanese) into the fight! I never really bought Ernie's idea of a Franco-German alliance that deliberately stays out of the war just to hurt England. So I think I will trash that. In my second book I plan to have both the French and the Germans get seriously involved in the Caribbean and Central/South American region. The Kaiser had his eyes on Venezuela in 1902 and he might just decide to send an expeditionary force there to 'help out'. The French may be heading for Mexico and I could see them getting seriously involved in Texas when they get cut off from the US and declare their independence (which I will keep from Ernie's timeline).
So, I hope some interesting things will be happening!

I am already buying German and Prussian troops for AQMF additions. But I think a German-British alliance may be more likely than a German-French. My two cents.

Readers will notice that I've been busy coming up with ways to get both the French and Germans involved even within the AD 'canon'. In Africa I've got vow Littow; the French Foreign Legion all over; the new Venusian TO&E and its alternative TO&E are both aimed at invasion of France & Germany by Venus. Even got a couple of French Regulars 'volunteering' in New Orleans and Canada. But, a shift in the canon is welcome as well. I look forward to what Scott comes up with - please note that a Franco-German war would make sense and how about Italy?? The Balkan question is wide open if there's no alliance of those opposed forces. The big question on any alignment of nations is what effect does the Martian presence have on their view of world politics. The AD canon was okay, but it really is questionable that France would align with its long time enemy Germany, when theres no Direct Threat from the Martians. Colonies yes, but with no tripods on the ground, there's no sense in any of the powers from that part of the world to get involved with each other. So we have four major powers IRL outside the scope of the game atm - France, Germany, Austria-Hungrey, and Italy. Added to those major are the minor powers of Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and what was to become Yugoslavia. Note that two other major powers, Turkey and Russia are part of the Martian invansion. Better writers than I (Scott) will help determine this soon I hope.

You should all know that Scott has another book already out.It is called The Terran Consensus. It is set now or maybe just in the near future. It is a really good sci-do action book. I got mine at Barnes and Noble. You should give it a look. If you liked the Martian preview, you will like this book.

Bill, thanks for buying The Terran Consensus! If you could post a review on the B&N website that would be a great help.
Back on the Martian Book, the e-book version is already available for sale and the hardcopy will be coming out early in March. My publisher tells me that the advance sales have been good enough to warrant an extra printing. And I shared the prologue with a local writing group that has NO gamers in it and three of them were thrilled that I have a Martian character in the book. Apparently there are a lot of War of the Worlds fans out there who want to know more about the Martians!

I just finished reading it, couldn't put it down once I started it. Great read! I'm going to buy a second copy to give my dad as a present. It really got me in a AQotMF building mood, if I didn't have midterms I'd be pouring into my mini now.

lcpl210, glad you liked it! If you got it from Amazon, please post a review there! It doesn't have to be anything fancy, it could just be the first two sentences of your post here. I'm told that Amazon pays attention to the number of reviews a book gets and will more aggressively advertise books with a lot of reviews.
Thanks!

A question for you Scott. We are getting ready to start the next round of the Martian attack on Vicksburg. Is it OK if I give the Martian commanders names similar to the ones in your book?

I've just been to both Barnes & Noble and Hastings and neither have the new Martian book in stock. Looks like I will have to order it. I am a bit more than half through the Terran Consensus and am really enjoying it. I'll see about writing a review on B&N or Amazon.
