Bilko, these are great! We definitely need to give them a run now! What sort of points do you think you can put together? Both painted & unpainted Thank you sir! I can't wait to push these guys across the table, make things on three legs go boom Points wise I'll need to look through my book, unsure off the top of my head. But this is what I have assembled and or painted right now: 3x mk2 tanks 3x mk3 tanks 1x mk4 tank 3x APC tanks 2x units of infantry (6 bases, can't remember the correct terms) 3x bases of machine gunners Now I can also assemble more units pretty quickly, the minis usually require minimal clean up. Maybe more infantry to round things out a bit? I've not played a game yet so I'm not sure on what makes an effective force. I'll have a good look through my book after work tonight, see what I should make next.

They did a great job with this tank. It's full of detail and is super easy to assemble. I didn't even need to drill when I magnetised the turret, there was plenty of room so I just glued the magnets in! It just looks so impressive sitting on my bench, like it means business

You need to have more artillery if possible. And at least one Command Squad, for rallying troops and giving you order tokens to effect you movement, etc. See the rule book on the command tokens uses. Those batteries (3 guns) are the real tripod killers of the game. Mobile if possible. Check out the USA tab with the pdf Q has posted to get updated values or use only the ones on the rule book, but not the ones on pages 50-54, which are messed up. Here's the points you've put forth for you:
(1) Platoon of MkII tanks @165 (1) Platoon of MKIII tanks @225 (1) MkIV tank @190 (I figure you've got a 7" in it) (1) Platoon of APC tanks @120 (called Armored Infantry Carriers (AIC), listed on the pdf, each carries a squad 10 man infantry - usually Armored Infantry btw) usually teamed with two squads of 15 man Armored Infantry. (2) Platoons of Infantry, each being 3 Squads (stands) @30 ec = @60 (1) Heavy Machine Gun Squad of 3 guns & 9 crew @40 Note that the AIC can carry the two squads of regular infantry as well - an AIC unit can carry 30 men which is normally two squads worth. You could alternatively put your 3 MG elements in the AIC for transport if you wish (one per vehicle). Final Tally - 680 points in 7 units = BP 4 with 3 order tokens for a HQ unit. the addition of the HQ unit @30 (required to use the order tokens and to rally units) gives you 710 points in 8 units = BP 4 [with 3 order tokens - you get 1 token per 200 points in force] Another type of troop you could look for is the Forlorn Hope; basically suicide teams that try to blow up tripods, hidden in infantry squads. You can have 1 team per 2 squads you table, so for the above force you table 3 teams in your squads. They don't count anything for your point totals. Adding those to a mobile AIC force, you'd get some nice +3 Power Assaults for a single fire phase out of the AICs - transport on move 1 and assault during the fire phase, with the AICs proving HMG fire. Good stuff and you're out only the price of a Command Squad box & Forlorn Hope box to complete you force. Later, you can add some artillery. A battery is 3 guns of whatever type. Pay attention to the movement restrictions on artillery - Field Artillery can be manhandled slowly, but can't fire if moved (move or fire not both); Heavy Field Guns and Anti-Tripod Guns require towing by trucks or tanks. See Flivvers for the various - note that you can add a HMG to each truck at 10 points per HMG - so for a squad of trucks, you'd add 30 points for each to have an HMG. The actual trucks are cheap at 15 points for 3 (5 points per truck); the machine guns adds 30 points to the 15 points, so you get transport and an squad of HMGs for 45 points - not bad considering the usual squad is 40 points. Note that the MkIIMA proves you a mobile heavy gun and you can add machine guns to those as well. So, for 220 points plus 30 for the machine guns, you get 3 heavy artillery and machine guns if drones get too close. For the time being, you can use you MkII to tow any non-mobile artillery you get. The non-mobile guns FA guns (75 mm or 3") box of 3 only costs $25 - a good price. All of this leads to the suggestion that you at least purchase (1) Command Squad & (1) Forlorn Hope for your current forces. If you have the means, a box of MkIIMA (which comes with 3 of those, a full battery) would round out a basic force. Hope you enjoy this info and the game. Cheers!

Sounds good, I've got some artillery and enough bit to add another 2kish worth of US. Plus a bucket load of unglued stuff that will be done someday...
I'll start looking for dates
Once again very nice work.

Wow! So much text madmorgan! Thanks and I did enjoy reading your post, lots of things I hadn't considered. I'm lucky that I have almost all the units you mentioned already (no forlorn hope through), my local store had a decent selection of stock. I've just been a bit aimless with my assembly and painting. When i began painting these I didn't know about this forum or any other Aussie players. Now I do and will try and direct my painting at getting a serviceable force on the table.
So! Ive dug out a command squad, 2 boxes of mobile artillery tanks and some heavy infantry as my next minis to paint. I've got my painting method down now so I should breeze through. It will be fun!

I should have them done and painted in short order, I'm really enjoying painting these minis so they go fast! I can be very flexible with work, so as long as I get a bit of notice I can probably get most any day off/swap a shift etc... Let me know Someday minis... Yeah my Martians are in the someday pile. I started one as a test but haven't finished it get. I wasn't happy with my colours.

Glad to be of any help. The Heavy Infantry is the 'traditional' riders in the the AICs. Btw, the USA calls those Armored Infantry - the Brits call theirs "Heavy Infantry". I look forward to seeing you paint jobs. And hearing of any games you get to play. Its all about having fun.

I really need to read through my rule book again, get on top of all the correct terms etc. You're 100% right on the having fun part, I know that's why I play all these games

Great work on your infantry. Might I suggest that the boots you've yet to paint at this posting be brown. The Army didn't go to black boots till late in the 1950s and then returned to 'roughened' brown for the desert campaigns of the 1980s+

The Army didn't go to black boots till late in the 1950s and then returned to 'roughened' brown for the desert campaigns of the 1980s+ I tried brown boots but in the end settled on black. I couldn't get the brown to look "right". It either made the boots look to long and to... Um... Boot-y? So I went with black and I think of it as one of the minor differences I'm this alternate history. Perhaps newly developed boots made with a special material? At the end of the day I'm happy with how the black contacts with the brown and green of their uniform.
