Mine came 2 days ago and is sitting there taunting me to read it, but I have other real life things that must get done first. Probably be another week before I can get to it. And I checked, the correct book is inside the cover.🙂

Having different time periods can be helpful in designing scenarios. Human equipment in the early war period is a bit problematic. We have been playing a timeline campaign and have found that limiting humans to infantry, cavalry, an field guns is not a very interesting game. We will introduce Mk I tanks next and see how that goes.

Well's black dust weapon was a large rocket which could cover many square miles of area. For the game a much smaller weapon was substituted and I kept that for my book. But as for the original question, the Martians are supposed to be creatures of vast intellect, I can't see them having any trouble multi-tasking and firing heat rays and Black Dust during the same turn. And don’t forget that they have multiple tentacles.

Here are the workshop vehicles to go with the recovery vehicles. They are Japanese trucks from Flames of War. I picked them because they don't look too modern.

On 1: I once thought the troops in the building displaced 6 inches to escape the collapsing building, but I cannot now find that in the rulebook or errata. I think I would suggest we follow the rule for fortress walls in which any stands on the collapsing fortress wall takes a hit from the same weapon that destroyed the wall. Any stands that survive escape the collapsing building. On 2: In our group I have been saying no because it does not have the "multiple targeting" characteristic. On 3: I agree with madmorgan and boxholder that it should be no, unless the scenario specifies the trench walls are strong enough to hold up tanks.

The range issue is why we need to play test the idea. And they are not freed from a controller. There is a limit on how many a controller can manage. So if the limit is 4 and there are 3 controllers there can be 12 drones or lobototons on the table. If a controller is destroyed there may still be 12 drones but only 8 could be active and the Martian player must choose which.

In our group we have been questioning the distance limit for control of drones and lobototons. The assumption is they are like Remotely Piloted Vehicles so there should be no range problem. We have discussed instead having a limit on the number of drones and lobos a controller can manage. But we have not had a chance to play test the idea.
BTW thanks for keeping the forum updated. It is great to know things are progressing.

Very nice. I liked your earlier wrecks, and the standing wrecks are great too. I’ll have to think about following your lead.
