All for your viewing pleasure here is a little sneak peak of one of the new rules we are working on.
Lobototon Squad
Points: 25
Unit: 3 elements
Type Speed Defense Armor Special
Infantry 4” 4 5 Drone, Support Unit
Weapons Range Power Special
Blasters 10” +1 -
Slicers Assault +1 -
Drone
Elements with this special rule when Activated, must move in the most direct path towards the closest enemy element, moving around impassible terrain and conduct an Assault if possible. Additionally, when a Drone element fires any of its weapons it must fire at the closest enemy element. If an element with Drone is within 12” of a friendly element with the Controller special rule it may Activate normally.
Support Unit
Support Units are ignored when it comes to calculating how many units an army contains and how many units have been destroyed. However, if it comes to counting point values at the end of a game to determine a winner, Support Units do count their full value just like other troops.

In our group we have been questioning the distance limit for control of drones and lobototons. The assumption is they are like Remotely Piloted Vehicles so there should be no range problem. We have discussed instead having a limit on the number of drones and lobos a controller can manage. But we have not had a chance to play test the idea.
BTW thanks for keeping the forum updated. It is great to know things are progressing.

I would be cautious about extending the range of drones. Having free-ranging, autonomous drones roaming the full length of the play area would likely unbalance things dramatically.
Likewise, freeng them from the need for a controller may also make them too powerful

The range issue is why we need to play test the idea. And they are not freed from a controller. There is a limit on how many a controller can manage. So if the limit is 4 and there are 3 controllers there can be 12 drones or lobototons on the table. If a controller is destroyed there may still be 12 drones but only 8 could be active and the Martian player must choose which.

Very interesting - I like that 'support units' do count in the totals for winning the game. It needs to mention that they can be armed with a blaster or a slicer. You might have that already in the pics or description block.
