Hmmm didn't know that. I was introduced to this series by my honey's son, mike, an avid reader as well. He was doing the Harry Turtledove alternative history stuff and came across this 'old' series. I've always liked alternative history and now am fully hooked into alternative syfy history via AQMF. I've only done up through book#3 (Terrible Swift Sword) by William Forstchen and there is ten books - but, I can see it getting kinda fuzzy already. Heck, if you think about it All miniature gaming is a form of 'alternative' history or such. Its just a matter of how much money, time, and complexity you're willing to invest.

Back when the series was new there were a lot of people begging for figures for the aliens (I forget their names). Plenty of figures which could be used for the humans, but the 9-foot tall alien Mongols were a challenge

yes I can see that - need a range of Ogres I suspect would work - may out of Reaper. Or better in 15mm which I'm fortunate to have a lot of already. The problem would be with mounted 'Ogres'. Maybe stretch it with big Orcs, need a line with 'loose' riders and horses to work hmmm myabe peter pig has something. I don't need another game design! lol.

Finding horses big enough would be a challenge. I would think the would need to ride hippopotamice.

Up to about 70,000 words done now! And I have the rest pretty well laid out. I hope to make the early August deadline. And I've seen the early sketches for the cover. I can't show them to you, but here is a link to the artist's website. He's clearly very good! michaelnigro.wordpress.com/
