Great work on the USS Weston!
I'm going to paint navy crew and landing parties navy blue with white gaiters and webbing, blue/grey helmets and khaki packs. I have a couple of spare US command squads for crew until S2G comes up with an alternative, and will be using several spare US infantry and HMG units as a naval landing party. Might add a Black Hat Gatling gun or two.

loyalist paint scheme is what I envision for the period - Sandpebble and 55 Days in Peking movies kinda in my head as well. I'd think the crew would have gasmask containers on hand, but only where if there is an immediate threat of gas. Much like the doughboys of WW1. Having trained with gasmasks in the modern army, its damn great to have one when needed and very vision limiting to wear when its not. Most infantry prefer to see what they're shooting at if they take a shot at all. I remember reading somewhere the Army did a study on firing, which findings were that only about 25% of soldiers actually fire their weapons during an engagement (Vietnam period - different stats for other WW2, Korea)?

I'll be using spare artillery crewman with gas masks. I figure SOP. If close enough to shoot a Martian then close enough to wear a gas mask, especially out on deck.
Except crazy marines. Uhh-rah.

Yes, thats right ref the wearing. Especially with your ship doing close-in rescue work. Yes, the Marines were maskless, but their tough right? I've suggested to S2G that they should do some Marines wearing gasmasks, particularly a mortar squad! Sounds like the USS Ashbury is about ready to debute! May she live long and prosper, eer, kill Martians and rescue civilians.

Crew added. The bridge figures are connected by a piece of Sprue at their bases but not glued down. Can change their position based on ship orientation. I had had originally considered using figures from a spare USMC box but only a couple would be useful.

Nice job Mike. I haven't been very active on the forum lately, so just finally came across this. Thanks. You were an inspiration when I saw all your work on AQMF in Des Moines.
