I just got one on ebay. I never thought I would have seen one. Never saw one until today. Has anyone ever seen a harvester in the wild? I should have a reaper coming, but I've never seen a harvester.

I have both a cylinder and two harvesters waiting to be assembled. I luckily bought them from AD in their online store and got them shipped before they went belly up. Makes me feel lucky now.

Those elusive beasts are still out there. One could hope IG will be producing many more in the months/years to come.

If IG does produce them, some folks will really get a case of the vapors -- like the guy that just paid $311 for a Harvester on ebay last week.

Yow!!
Clearly, either a collector or speculator.
There are other less flattering possibilities, but the less said, the better.

Yeah, keep trying to get something and that bidder just shoots way past my budget. Tripling and quadrupling what I would pay. Hopefully their hunger will be sated soon. Perhaps they aren't taking any chances with the game being republished or doesn't even know about it.

If the person I bought the nine drones from ebay is on here, they arrived and I am very happy.

While we are talking Cylinders can someone tell me the Diameter of the Cylinder itself?

I don't know the size of the AD model but it's probably much smaller than 1' in diameter. In the 'Anglo-Martian War' Osprey book the diameter is given as 100', so over 12" in AQotMF scale. I don't recall a diameter being mentioned in 'War of the Worlds'.

Wells described the diameter as being about 30 yards IIRC.

Wells described the diameter as being about 30 yards IIRC. Yes, I just read that, and 30 yards is 15 men high, each 18mm and that works out to be 10.8 inches. Which is not a realistic piece to have.

Here we encounter the problem of "true scale size" in the game environment. Indeed, the cylinder would need to be huge to accommodate six tripods, their crew, other hardware and the unfortunates that they brought along for food.
The Martian cylinder we need to use for game purposes is just a representation of the location of the cylinder, a focus for game action. As such, it does not have to be true scale size.
Model railroaders use the concept of "selective compression" to fit a full city or a giant switching yard onto their layout. Things are just squeezed down to fit the space available while capturing the visual effect. Some elements are omitted and others a scaled down. Then, let the viewer's mind fill in the blanks and mentally expand things.
Just relax and don't "over-think" it. Game on!!
