Hello again! My infantry and one machine gun base are done, hooray! They look much brighter in person, they are just coming out darker as I don't have a proper setup. Two more machine guns will be done in the next few days. Next up, command base and heavy infantry. As always all thoughts and comments welcome!

Nice. I am too lazy to paint the gas mask eye pieces. I applaud the attention to detail. Also like you vehicles.

Thanks for the kind words! I understand about being a lazy painter. I painted the eyes as they were easy, just a blob of blue paint! I thought about painting the gas masks too... But got lazy The main thing is they are ready for the table.

Just a quick update. Got the undercoat on my heavy infantry and the final gloss coat on my two machine guns today. I also took a group shot of my army so far. It's starting to look like a decent force now!

Hello! I finished the two machine gun bases today. I used the flash so the pics are a little brighter. I also got a second coat of green paint on the heavy infantry as the first coat always misses a few spots.

Nice look - I take it that the third AIC is just being worked on from the force photo. Your painting of the infantry with those eye pieces is brilliant! What color, if you weren't 'lazy', would you do the gasmasks?? Just curious as you've a good 'pallet' for the miniatures.

The third AIC, now officially dubbed "flakey" is in the dettol jar. I couldn't get all the mold release off before I primed it and the primer flaked off. It Should join the front line next week I am very happy with the eyes, I wanted them to stand out and look like reflected sky in the glass. If I was going to spend more time detailing the infantry I'd try maybe a khaki colour for the gas masks. Try and make it look like canvas. Once the whole army is done I'll probably go back and add some details, things like the gloves etc. Right now I really just want to get the army done and on the table. My goal for this army is for it to look very uniform. Mostly green with one or two contrasting colours. I'm finding the brown really works well with the green. As these are the fist AQMF minis I've painted a lot of what I'm doing is experimenting. Seeing what works and what doesn't.

Well, great job and I look forward to seeing more when you've gotten more 'experienced'. To date, the work is better than mind for sure and I know that the more a person practices, the better they usually get. Keep it up. We all need the inspiration!

Hello! I decided I needed more tanks and they needed big guns! In other words I broke out the mobile artillery tanks. Ok first off they look great! Big, chunky and dangerous looking. But... Wow... Are they frustrating to assemble! It's only the gun and mounts that are fiddly but they are a major part of the mini. Much metal was glued to fingers this night Only got one finished so far, the other two just need the gun finished. I haven't put the crew in as I'll paint them separately. And I can use them without crew if I need to. I'm also considering magnetising the metal platform onto the plastic body. Not sure on that yet. Anyway, on to the pics!

Looking great, your army is really coming along now Thanks! I want it battle ready by summer. I'm a bit surprised at how much I'm enjoying painting these minis, they're quite fun!

There will be lots more to come, I'm having great fun assembling and painting these minis. It's a continual learning process and practice always helps. I can see the small improvements I'm getting now over the first tanks I painted. I do hope this thread provides some inspiration. I know I get fired up to paint from looking at other peoples wonderful paint jobs and modelling.

Ahoy! Ok so I attacked the two remain tanks today. If anything the guns were even more frustrating than the one yesterday. I experimented with magnetising the gun and it kinda-sorta worked. Im really not sure how I'll do the next three. Maybe scrap the gun assembly completely and scratch build a mount. One benefit of the magnetised gun is its fully removable. I also went ahead and magnetised the gun platform so I can remove it from the tank body. Why? Mainly for transport as the the assembled mini is quite tall and the gun is so fragile. With it separated it's all much smaller and less likely to get broken. I used some spare sponsors inside the tank body for the magnet to sit on and it only took a few minutes. I know the tanks will be great in the end but getting them there is a hassle

Agreed a hassle, but that 6" howitzer firepower is sweet on the table!! Nothing ruins a tripods day more than a battery of MA targeting you, especially if with ammo carrier (+1 die rolled each shot). Do have a look at the Conqueror line for their 8" MA howitzer. As they're premaded resin, you won't have to do assembly at all. Looking good. Just what you force needed to pound a little Martian metal.

Hello! I fished my third AIC out of the dettol last night and gave it a thorough scrubbing. Most of the paint came off with no trouble, just the usual bits stuck in corners etc. But after I dried it I noticed something funny. The bits that wouldn't hold paint were still all smooth and slippery, despite two good scrubbings and a soak in dettol. Also when I rubbed them with my finger nail it was soft and I accidentally gouged out a chuck of resin! Not too sure what's going on here but I'd be careful with what is used to clean this resin, it seems to react differently than other resins I've encountered before. I have a couple of coats of green undercoat on it now and I'll see tomorrow if they are flakey or not. Fingers crossed! I've made a bit of progress on my heavy infantry, not much just a few details and some dry brushing. Still progress is progress I also finished magnetising my artillery tanks so they will get a lick of paint tomorrow.
