I have noted some commentary on that MG's were considered overpowered in this game. I then computed the odds, and I agree. If you compare a MG with +1 power firing 3 shots against a single +2 gun, the MG will penetrate an 11 armored Tripod half the time, but with 3 shots, this means it will score hits 150% of the time.
In practical terms, a single +2 shot will destroy an undamaged Tripod 2% of the time. A single MG with 3 +1 shots 3%. It makes me want to buy a lot of MG Squads, or at least up gun my tanks wit a pair of MG’s.
To this end we are going to institute a house rule called “Weak Weapons” Weak Weapons: Weapons with a power of +1 or less that hit and penetrate a Tripod, do not automatically go to the Tripod damage table. A single hit, will just cause 1 point of damage. 2 hits scores an unmodified roll on the Tripod damage table 3 hits scores a +1 modified roll on the Tripod damage table
Any thoughts?

I am kind of committed to the red in the narrative, at least for the campaign to liberate Louisiana. However, we also have campaigns in the Rockies and Sieara's along with the north west in Canada and Wisconsin.

The Texas Longhorns Meet Alabama's Crimson Tide The Southern Front has gone to hot war. The Martians were decisively defeated at Fort Worth, and their reinforcement columns at Brad. General Funston is not going to give the Martian time to regroup. With Dallas secure, he has ordered General McCook to attack eastward to link up with the Army of Saint Louis, and cut off the Martians in Louisiana. philsmartianfront.blogspot.com/2019/05/the-longhorns-meet-crimsontide.htmlEnjoy

General Funston went off the rails when the 8th name was a Comanche, followed by 35 more Comanches. I am trying to reflect the prejudices of the era without being totally offensive, which off course, reflects a modern view. Then, when he read the rest of the report, he had a rethink and recanted.

Enakan, I did not take it as you giving me a hard time. I wrestled with the word when writing the report. I am trying to avoid any words that are defamatory in our day and age like, "Tonto". And because you came across the word were-guild, that means you read the story line. and I appreciate that. Thanks.

There were onlookers, but no recruits. BUT, every time I am in the store since I have been asked when we will do it again. We have 4 players with large Martian and human armies to put on the table. Next time there, we will have about 5000 points on each side, with two Land Ironclads and a Dominator, on a 16' table. It will be like a con. --Phil

Wereguild was a word I knew. I guess I could have used "Compensation" instead.

The Battle for Fort Worth The Southern Front has gone to hot war. The Martians are focusing their efforts to taking the city of Dallas, and to do so, they plan to surround the city first in a double pincer movement. General Funston has set up defenses in the east at Tyler, and in the west at Fort Worth. The battle at Tyler was a near run thing, but in the end, its defenders were in full retreat and closely pursued. Now it is Fort Worth's turn. philsmartianfront.blogspot.com/2019/04/the-battle-for-fort-worth.htmlEnjoy!

Yes, the blitzkrieging motor bikes did real well. It gave the Martian fits trying to decide to shoot at tanks, or motorcycles. I think he'll decide differently next time.

An excellent writeup. The American weapons seemed to be very effective.
