When assaulting in terrain, is the terrain chart in effect? It doesn't seem right. An example is drones assaulting infantry in the woods. If you are going face to face with your reaper tentacles, I don't think the woods should add any +'s to hit. On the other hand, if the same drones are assaulting entrenched infantry, then I would say yes, the defense matters.
What we decided on was to split the difference. No +'s to hit from the terrain, but +'s on protection if offered.
Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure Ernie (remember him?) said that terrain doesn't help at all in an assault. Even trenches. I guess it makes sense. The drones or lobos would have to be right there in the trench to get at you, so it wouldn't be much protection.

That rings a bell for me, too. It is the way we have been playing assaults in terrain with a defense bonus. We limit it to drones and lobototons on the reasoning that a reaper tripod (for example) is too hampered in movement when in difficult terrain to negate the defensive bonuses.
