Just over 2 weeks after my first game of AQotMF, which was 3 days before AD disappeared, I've managed to source enough models for a Canadian/BEF force for the game. So far I've built 12 tanks from 2 starter sets and put all the infantry and HMGs on bases; started on Assault Tripod assembly last weekend, assembled a Coil Gun (interesting without instructions) and put 4 BEF infantry units and 2 Vickers HMG units on bases. Everything else has been ordered except for Bluemoon British Sudanese Campaign lancers - I'm waiting to see what the 'coming soon' WWI cavalry are like.
The idea behind the force is that Canadians are using mostly US equipment but have started to receive equipment from the UK. A small BEF scouting force has been attached, consisting of a squadron of Mono-tanks and 5 units of British lancers with explosive weapons. The models will give this force:
Canadians:
HQ: Field Commander in Mk IIc tank
Tank company: 1 MK IIc, 3 Mk IIb, 3 Mk II, 3 Mk II BEF 'Tommy tanks'
Artillery: 1 Field Battery (BEF supplied) with 3 Armoured Flivver tows, 1 Heavy Field battery with 3 Mk IIt tows, 2 Coil guns (BEF supplied) with 2 Mk IIt tows, 2 Munitions Carriers, 1 Flivver Ambulance
Infantry: 5 Infantry units, 4 BEF equipped Infantry units, 2 HMG units, 2 Vickers HMG units (BEF supplied), 1 Command unit, 2 Flivver Ambulances
Other: 2 Roughrider units
Attached BEF:
3 Mono-tanks, 5 Cavalry units with explosive lances, 2 Mounted Command units
Martians:
6 Assault tripods, 2 Assault tripods with Black Dust launchers, 1 Assault tripod with Green Gas, 1 Grenadier, 6 Sniper drones, 6 Drones, plus 3 more Assault tripod kits.
The 3 kits will be built as 1 Scout if I can trade heads, 1 Scientist (kit bash/conversion since there don't seem to be any Scientists or Slavers available for the drones), and a Veteran Assault tripod
The Munitions carriers will have to be kit bashed. I don't like the cranes on the heavy field guns so will use them for the munitions tanks and build the crane platform on the rear of the tanks from styrene. The ammo trailers will be scratchbuilt but will be completely enclosed, with access hatches for the crane on top. The wheels are the same as on the Mono-tank so will be copies made from resin.
It will take a few weeks to assemble and base everything and probably 3 months or more to paint it.
