If anyone has played the Bunker Scenario, what did you use for 6" x 6" field fortifications and how were they manned?
The AD trenches aren't suitable because there are no corner sections. If there were and you made a square trench system it would be at least 8" x 8" and would easily hold a 3 element infantry squad plus an HMG unit. The Ironclad Miniatures 20mm scale trench system can't make a 6" x 6" field fortification either, though corners are available.
The scenario rules don't say what units can be placed in a field fortification. If it was a hollow square it could hold an infantry unit and an anti-tripod or coil gun, which would be able to fire on only one side due to movement restrictions, or a field artillery battery. Thoughts?

You might check the Acheron 20mm trench system - I believe they have proper corners as well as other pieces that would suit (zigzags, MG pits, etc.). The rules are fuzzy there, but, I think mainly to allow the player(s) to decide what is entrenched and dug in more that just to be vague. Scotts paperterrain works well as are in 6" sections with wire & minefields 8" to form overlap out front. Just some thoughts for you to checkout.

And a few carefully placed snips with scissors can make the paper terrain be any angle you want or need.

I prefer solid terrain to paper, so will probably scratch-build the fortifications for the Bunker scenario.

Each to his own. That blasted irritating dust from cutting resin is turnoff. So is the cost.
To make trenches and earth features, I use SculptaMold. It is a pre mixed papier mache. Easy to form. Dries to pretty durable forms. It is gray when dry so you can paint it any color you want. Already has texture, so simple washing works fine.. You can then cover it with grass or whatever.

Excellent suggestion box... - would you list it on the supplier page as I had trouble finding a vendor (USA?).

I got the Sculptamold at craft stores (joAnn's, Michael's, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby). It is made by a company called AMACO. Our local HobbyTown USA has it. I think some WalMarts carry it and you can order it from Amazon. Here is how it looks. The bunker is 1/4 inch foamcore board, painted with acrylic gray that has some sand mixed into it. It got a wash of dilute black The Sculptamold "earth" was just pressed up against the bunker--it has enough adhesive to stick. Brown acrylic paint and some green sand after it dries. The crater is formed simply by pinching bits of the Sculptamold into a crude crater shape. Painted with brown acrylic and bit of darker brown wash. The barbed wire entanglement is a random Sculptamold form with broken toothpicks pressed into it. When dry, brown acrylic and some green sand. The "barbed wire" is just copper wire wound around a dowel and given a little silver paint.

Nice - I'll look for the Sculptamold at 4 locations here - JoAnn's, AC Moores, and Michael's as well as local Walmart. The Walmart is right across the street - the others about 20 minutes one way south to Waldorf. Thank you, this is an excellent suggestion. I might even be able to model some of it!
