Theres a posting in another thread with folks pointing out (particularly scottwashburn) that there is no real restriction on movement and facing of a tank as long as the measurement is taken from the 'front face'. I suppose theres no need to do anything about this as you could just reverse by measuring straight back. thanks for pointing it out , We had been playing that tanks could reverse etc , It's good to have the rules clarified . Officially from the rule book, p. 37 - "Moves are always calculated from the center of an element's front... The element can move in any direction or orientation you wish, and can change direction, or pivot, any number of times as it moves. This distance moved is calculated from the center front point of the base or model."

This question is based on my own limited All Quiet gaming experience.(i've only played five games so far having played both Americans and Martians) Is it too easy to defeat Martians ? In every game i've been involved in so far The Martians have been defeat ,often quiet heavily . Have others found this also? I should add a caveat that i am notoriously poor with my dice rolling skills. Coming back to the original question, I'm finding that the Martians tend to fall apart faster than when I was first playing the game at its debut. I've decided it has to do with the addition of several artillery pieces. With the coil gun, anti-tripod guns, field guns, and heavy field gun battery, the Martians often take severe casualties before they can get close enough to do significant damage. So...I'm upping the number of grenadiers in my forces to try and balance the score. Also...It is my experience that newer players seem to run the Martian side very aggressively, working to close distances and making little use of terrain. That simply leaves them wide open to artillery attack and they end up suffering more initial losses.

I agree new players often move their Martian's boldly with all the confidence of an invincible Alien conqueror .
The humans do seen to get new and more efficient ways of destroying tripods .

Do look through some of the forum posts that have Martian tactics, this might help your efforts on Marvins behalf. The move forward, shot, move back seems to be a favorite.

Perhaps because we have often used bigger tables this tactic hasn't been effective given the number of turns the game has lasted . The humans have used this tactic with reasonable success.

Hmmm. Well, see if the MARs players might consider timing moves to get into their 30" range and then shuffle out again. Its really a matter of timing, but at Historicon 2015, my USA forces got very mauled by this tactic. I soon learned to focus artillery on Assaults after dispatching advancing drones/Slavers. Even that had problems till I finally bagged one, then and only then, did the MARs player advance, crushing any artillery in range. I have reposted my 'summer of shame' as its long and evolved and no longer applicable with no AD.
