Hi Michigan Toy Soldier just got in 4 new 1/72 scale boxes and some other interesting items. As mentioned in another thread, I use some 1/72 minitures I got in the early days of AQ before I realized the scale was 'wrong' (ie 1/72 vs 1/92 AQ). I formed units like the Yeti Battalion (Canada way north patrol) and Red Brigade (Stalin/Lenin etc.), Tzarist Russians, as well as my von Lettow Africian units out of 1/72 or HO figures. Thus, I list the following items that may interest you all.
HTI 8157 & 8160 - Polish & Romanian WW2 artillery crews. There are 32 figures each with 5 helmeted and 3 hats sitting around. The helmeted ones are loading, etc. The figures have small side pouches that could be (wink, wink) noted as gasmask holders. Retail is $7.50 a set, with discount (membership) granting 10% off at $6.75 each.
Also see FRF-33, which are (2) WW2 75mm Wz1897 Schnieder Polish Field Cannon. As noted these are really 1897 pieces, going right into our time slot. $17.99 retail.
HTI 8292 - BEF Early (war) Infantry. 32 figures of limited use as no gasmasks apparent at all. All are in hats as well! Again the $7.50/$6.75 price, but, I don't see any use for them in the GMW context, except maybe as a 'new' unit caught before being equipped with gasmasks (unlikely).
HTI 8293 - WW1 British Infantry in Khaki Drill Tropical. This is the best of the lot!! Despite the cover picture on the box, all the figures with rifles have bayonets. They also have large front pockets on their jackets and a pouch on the leftside that could hold a gasmask. All of them are in shorts. Again at $7.50/$6.75, I found these to be great for various 'hot' or 'jungle' type locations. There are even 4 officers with pistol. This boxset begs to be used if you're doing anything in 1/72s.
ITL-6050 has reissued its Zulu war figures - this would be the British Infantry Colonials in their nice pith helmets. These are a 'reprint' of the Esci 212 set, 40 figures in 15 poses, at $12.99/$11.69.
ITL-6174 also a reissued a nice Church, European looking. Major terrain feature at $44.99/$40.49.
Joefix studios has some nice camoflauge netting supports for various scale 1/35, 1/48, 1/72, all at $4.99. Code for the 1/72 is JFX-728.72 I found these to be a good look for your nettings, of coarse it would be easy to make your own out of round toothpicks & a flat top of some type. Good reference shots.
FFR-GL-ZUB-035 A nice looking small landing boat, rather like scotts paper ones - 80mmx21mmx8mm high.
GMF72- Z020,Z021,Z022,Z023; 1 set of vegtatble crates (8 total), 3 different sets of tables, benches, stools, etc. 1/72 sets. $10.99/$8.79 each.
Finally another of my favorites - used in Russia settings; UMM-663 DSH Staff Armored Railcar $24.99 - turreted HMG this completes the excellent line of UMM selfpropelled railroad armor cars. With all the extra HO scale track I've got from an old train table, this piece completes a series of UMM armored trains. As far as game play, I might use this as an objective, as its firepower is a bit low vs the other railcars available.
I hope this listing gives those of you using 1/72 plastics for some battles addtional units/items to consider. As long as all the Human figures are the same scale, it works well in AQ/GMW having 22mm vs 18mm figures for the human side. Enjoy!
