Greetings all,
My wife (Ronda) and I (Don Gilmore) will be running an AQMF mini-campaign of four 4 hour sessions at Historicon this year. The games will be on Thursday and Friday with an afternoon and evening game on each day. I have listed the game as 8 players per event. I did not submit in time for the PEL but the games are in there now and will be in the program.
You may already know us if you attended Little Wars this year as we played in the games there. We also played in the AD campaign event last year at Historicon. Even with the demise of AD, the campaign story must continue to be told. This game is too much fun to let it die....
The game is titled "The Illinois Campaign of 1915" and will cover operations mentioned on page 21 of the hardcover rulebook after the 2nd battle and fall of St. Louis where the U.S. forces have fallen back to the Illinois-Indiana Defensive line.
We will have two 5x8 tables (or one 5x16 table) for the events.
Plans so far:
--Working on a simple campaign type format/map that will let everyone be fully engaged while also telling a story.
--Each event will have two 4 person tables going simultaneously (two 2 on two battles) with their own GM. This should keep things moving and also lend to the campaign flavor.
--Good assortment of Martians including Veterans, Assaults, Reapers, Grenadiers, Slavers, Scouts, and lots of drones. Who knows, maybe even a harvester or cylinder will show up....
--Human forces will be U.S. only, no Brits as they were engaged further south around St. Louis and were pretty much a spent force that needed to regroup at the time of our campaign event.
--Possibility of up to 2 Land Ironclads appearing as well as a Tesla.
--Well rounded human forces with balanced mix of forces....At least one full US Tank Battalion (p.83 in rulebook) plus a lot more.
--Most of the battles will be field engagements with room to maneuver for both sides.
Regards,
Don Gilmore
