Thanks for the photos. The S2G Prussians are an excellent match in size to the Black Hat Prussians and AD US troops. However, I'm surprised to see the S2G British figures are significantly smaller than the AD BEF figures, being noticeably shorter, less bulky and having smaller heads.
The S2G British troops appear to be just a little bit bigger than the Rebel Mini Titan Marines I bought to use as BEF Assault Infantry but found to be too small to use with AD troops. When I put a stand of the Rebel figures next to one of BEF troops they appeared fractionally shorter than the S2G figures in Quendil's comparison photo (by about a millimeter).
I'll have another look at the Khurasan sci fi 15mm figures for other possible 'Assault Infantry' figures. Supposedly they're a closer match in size to the AD infantry.
I really like the Black Hat Prussian tanks. The light tank would make a good artillery tractor.
I'm glad I didn't order any Eureka figures yet; they're even smaller (slightly) than the FOW/BF British desert infantry. I have lots of the FOW British 8th Army figures and they're too small to use with AD figures.
I'd thought of buying the Rebel Minis Nemo figures but they appear to be the same size relative to AD models as the Titan Marines I received this week, which are too small to use next to AD infantry.
I was planning on ordering Blue Moon 15/18mm WWI figures this week for British command squads but I'm having second thoughts; does anyone have photos of BM WWI figures next to AD ones?
Loyalist, I thought I was specific about the Rebel Minis being 15mm all around. I've gotten the Nemo figures for my Nemo Nightmares, an all 15mm force. Many of my non-major faction forces are in alternate scales to AQs 18mm. Only Old Glory and Eureka had 18mm figures - and it appears that Eureka in converting to true 15mms now (errrr). Same figure less metal same price. Thank you all for the pics btw. I will use the Titan Marines as a new 'Heavy Infantry' unit as I've noted in an earlier thread - all those forces as well as the Peter Pig & FoW are 15mm and should look pretty good with each other. For 18mms I'll stick with Old Glorys Blue Moon & True North figures as they're spot on for use with AD figures. I do hope I didn't lead you astray with my rants about Rebel miniatures filling gaps. As long as you field an all 15mm human force, with the exception of tanks from Conqueror, S2G, etc all, things should 'look' right. Sorry, I'm going on about this, but, I don't like causing another person to get stuff thats wrong if its my fault in the communications of the matter.
I don't recall why I thought Rebel Miniatures figures were larger than 15mm. Oh well, I'll use them in small scenarios with no other figures.
Eureka's website still lists 18mm figures but none suitable for AQotMF as they're from different eras. I checked out the photos of the Heavy Field Gun battery with Blue Moon figures on this forum and they're a perfect match to AD's figures as you've pointed out.
I'm ordering a Blue Moon British Command pack so the BEF Command units will look different than my 'Canadian' HQs that use US figures. This weekend I'll try to copy BEF infantry heads in resin. If it works I'll replace the heads on 2 units of S2G cavalry figures I'm ordering to make them a better visual match to the rest of the BEF force.
Ah well at least I didn't ill advise you. As far as the Eurekas, I got a lot of figures from them before they seemingly have started to go to 15mm vs the original 18mm scale. Here are the units (see thread with TO&E/OOBs for same) that I built from them: US Cavalry using the Wake Island 41 style - admit that its one small unit, but can dismount with the infantry from that line as well. Australian Light Horse - same Turks - same British in Sinai - same with the additional Indian troopers as well rest of the WW1 line - did as actual nations or small militia in USA from those peoples WW2 - conversions: US Cavalry using the Wake Island 41 style - admit that its one small unit, but can dismount with the infantry from that line as well. Wake Island Marines - these work perfectly for AQ Marine compliments and reserve units. I used Whitworth ATguns for their artillery. Australia/Pacific - APC company soft hats (ATrifle used as sniper rifle) Australia/Bardia - ABC company helmets (with some of the helmeted APCs) (ATrifle used as sniper rifle) I generally don't include the Bren mg in any of the units. Japanese/Chinese/Filipino troops - MacAruthers Sierra front units (Filipino are personal elite bodyguard squad). Italians - Bersaglieri company out of Chicago; both mounted and dismounted platoons. Soviet Militia & Partisans - Tales of the Red Brigade & lots of figures for Militia out of Chicago and guerilla operations north of there. I didn't do anything with the US Marines as they really are too much WW2 US Sailors - perfect for shipboard figures and small "boats" crews on the beach. Remember all of these were 18mm figures and looked perfect against the AD & Old Glory lines. All of the artillery pieces came from the Blue Moon or True North lines (again 18mm). I accidently got some Finnish 20mm which I incorporated with my plastics for the Yeti Battalion.
As you can see, I got a lot of service from Eurekas 18mm line. If they've (as it appears) have truly gone to 15mm, I'm just as pleased, as I can rebuild the above units at leisure to got with the FoW, Peter Pig, and any other 15mm for all 15mm human forces. My first such effort will be with one of my favorite looking & playing units - the Bersaglieri motorcycle company.
I really appreciate this thread with the figure comparisions. I'm looking forward to getting a new phone at summers end and hope to actually be able to post pics of these various units for you all to see how 'madness takes its toll...'.
PS: no new phone for some time I'm afraid - maybe as a Xmas present, we'll see.
