That won't last long. There were three others that went for $126 a few days ago.

Earlier today a set of 5 Martian hover drones went for $237 dollars U.S. The insanity of that is mind boggling.

Some people are desperately crazy to get the AQMF stuff. They have no common sense at all. As product gets scarcer, I expect it will get even crazier.

From all indications, there was/is still a market for the old AD stuff and new licensing needs to be gotten asap. Theres money here for the enterprising vendors/manufactors. Lets hope the license for at least the Martian stuff is picked up quick.

So why did AD die

Brother hardlec:
Click up to the AD bankruptcy thread above. Lots of good info up there. You can form your own opinion.
But, I think you will find three basic causes: (1) overextended and unsupported product line (2) shortcomings from key suppliers, and (3) lack of promotion and marketing.

What I know in my head does not match what I know (want) in my heart. Good games come, good games go, and 40K continues as a black hole of sux.

Don't feel too bad about letting head rule over heart. Someone bought one of the starter sets for $285 US in late March.
And a single Red Martian kit went for $152+ a couple of weeks ago.
Or a single Mk IV Patton the went APR 16th for $205.
I like this genre, but there are limits. I guess this is the difference between collectors and players.

I've started selling off a very large 40K collection because I've become annoyed by GW changing rules/codices too frequently (i.e. Imperial Knights codex being reissued after just 1-2 years), apparently to generate more model and rule book sales. Also don't like the change in atmosphere at the local GW store with the high pressure sales pitches of the last couple of years.
The good news is that what I'm selling to the local 40K league players is going quickly and for decent prices, so should cover most of my AQotMF purchases plus free up a lot of storage space.

Ack! Hairball!! sorry for your lost and gain - there are a lot of nice conversions on this site for making the Red Martian - the favorite for me is the fellow that made it the "Marvin" of the Bugs Bunny cartoon series. Do see the forum swap tab and other folks conversions before laying out more monies on overpriced 'collectors' items, my friend. You'll feel better in the in and gain some new skills you might not of had.

Was the Marvin the Martian conversion posted here? I seem to have missed it. The only thing I have seen are some relatively distant photos of it in the AARs.

You're right - they're only on that AAR but it is inspirational - maybe we can get the forum member that did that one to post the making of it, at least text wise as he probably didn't make pic records?
