Well I bought the Eureka Miniatures tripod to try and make and Overseer. The kits is massive Now before anyone gets excited I would not recommend this kit. For the money it is a poorly designed kit. Put together it could be very tall and it does look awesome in the photos but I have to assume they must have done something to strengthen the legs. The legs are much too bendy and thin to take the weight of the hood. I followed the instructions and have tried several different ways but the legs just bow and if you do manage to get it to stand right there is no way you could move it. The only way I can see to make something of this kit would be to make some legs out of metal tubing and cover them with clay to make them more shapely. Having spent a week of my spare time on it I must admit to feel a lot of wasted time on something of such poor design.

If you want really BIG tripod, check out this one from Pegasus models from the Tom Cruise movie. It is about 15 inches tall. Now, THAT'S an overseer!!

Yeah, I bought one of those. I'm going to wait and see what IG comes up with before I decide whether I'll build it.

Yeah, I bought one of those. I'm going to wait and see what IG comes up with before I decide whether I'll build it. I read a review of the kit months ago. It was difficult to assemble iirc; the spindly legs make me doubt that it would be sturdy enough for use in war gaming.

It is a pretty nice kit.
The thing has a bunch of spiky bits that add nothing to the model, but they can be clipped off and filled. A little work can cover up the stuff molded on the base. The feet are kinda funky and gangling, so I'll probably be giving up an inch or so of height and scratch-building replacements. Maybe even shorten the legs a bit to strengthen them.

I find that the model has held up just fine. I really like it as an Overseer tripod, though I am quite interested to see what Ironclad issues. My only issue is that the car molded into the base is out of scale and not reflective of the time period. So, I cut craft foam into little bricks and "buried" the car. On my model, that area just looks like more fallen rubble. I kept and highlighted the War of the Worlds logo, deciding it was too fun to pass up.

Thanks for the real world experience, Burt.
I was planning to use bricks and rubble to cover the car, too. Have already purchased them. I was am going to cut the majority of the car away and cover the rest so that the bump is not so big.

That is one evil looking tripod. I may leave the legs and feet alone. Good job!
