In 1908, a young Lieutenant George Patton was a member of the US Olympic Team. He participated in the Modern Pentathlon. due to an error is scoring, he was not awarded a medal, however in the post-cold-war reformation, his targets were reviewed and he was posthumously awarded a silver medal.
In the current iteration of the GMW timeline, would there have been a 1912 Olympics in Sweden? If not, I need to have him in the 1908 Olympics in London.
When would the Rough Riders on Motorcycles begin their training? Part of my agenda is that Patton, as one of the best equestrians in the Army in 1908, would have probably been in some form of the cavalry.

Considering the unprecedented World changing events of the AQ timeline I can't imagine any circumstances where an Olympics might be held with the World hanging by such a precarious thread.
That said they are holding it in Brazil this year! Humanity can be pretty stupid, even in the face of annihilation!

I could see the 1908 Olympics being held. London would want to show the world how it had bounced back from the first invasion and wouldn't call it off even with the news of the new Martian attack on the way. OTOH, with the US Army in full mobilization mode, they might not have let young Patton travel to London for it.
The 1912 Olympics are unlikely. There would be very few teams left to attend for one thing.

I can't see the 1908 Olympics being cancelled. It may just be whistling in the dark, but the organizers wouldn't let it be cancelled citing pride and morale as compelling reasons to carry on.

Agree with all of the above - a very muted 1908 Olympics but it would occur. I purpose in AQ Pattons score was correct and he was awarded his silver. And yes, I believe that Teddy would pick Patton to do startup on the Rough Riders for two reasons; Pattons known riding ability and his futuristic view of motor vehicles and uses of them. He'd be a natural to field a unit of Rough Riders and go on to be one of the most progressive of commanders in developement of armor forces.

Patton plus Chafee plus Tanks. Hmmm. I pity the Martians. (NOT!)
