So having lost another attempt at getting my hands on some Martian drones on eBay I come to you fellows of the forum. What size are the drones? Height, base size, and such. I'm going to comb shapeways for something similar once I have the sizes because I couldn't afford to out bid someone willing to spend $60+ on a single pack of drones. I didn't realize that the Martians really needed a more diverse army list until I started reading some of the posts on this site. Any recommendations?

As much as I hate to say it, GamesWorkshop (curse and spit on the ground) has a race called the "Tau" who have some disc-like drones. I think they come 3 or 4 (corrected 2 per pack) to a pack with flight stands. You might look at them as an alternate. You could some little thingies and whats-its from styrene or spare parts.

There are 3 Sniper Drones on ebay.co.uk for the equivalent of $90 Canadian before shipping! Needless to say they haven't sold after more than a month.

I would have though normal drones would go for no more than £10

I looked at pendragon and the crawler could make a construction engine.

Interesting figures. Why's all the good stuff being made in England lol. I'll take that back, scott does good stuff and S2G does good stuff - heck theres a lot of USA companies doing 'good' stuff, just not walkers.

The small Pendraken tripods (40mm tall) would work well for drones.

Really?? I thought the drones were much 'shorter'. Whats the measurements on the AD drone? vs 40mm Pendraken?

Hydra Miniatures makes hoverbots which at $12.50 US for a pack of 5 is a great deal, although you will have to provide your own bases (acrylic pegs are provided). These make for excellent stand ins for the 'flying' drones. I picked up some a while back but haven't gotten them done yet. shop.hydraminiatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_31&products_id=33

I love the hydra stuff - lots of interesting drone & robot types as well. GW is now offering an interesting item called 'buddy drones' for their Antares game. These come 6 to a pack at $11.25 (about $1.87 per figure) and I liked the Batter,Gun,& Compactor set the best. They are based on 28mm scale, so good sized. Stock code is on the site WGA-GEN-20. I believe the WGA is code for the USA distribution (WorkshopGamesAmerica). The pack has 2 ec of the drones, so a 'full' unit of 3 would run about $22.50. I like the Compactor best I think, with those 'reaper claws' and a light heatray in the claw centered. The Gun drone is also a possible. Of coarse, following my idea about 2nd and 3rd generation Martian developement, those drone could be the automated 'independent' types I've discussed before - preprogramed to do certain actions with out a controller needed, like attack any human metal machine over a certain size/mass. Or just plain any human anything. Operating independantly, these thing would buzz about the battlefield causing distruption to any human unit they encountered. Having them a independents means you could try one pack as see if you like them. I'm not sure what use the Batter Drones would be, but then you could possibly use them as my 'Detection' drones. There is a second set of drones, but I can't see much AQ use for them. I suppose any of the Shield, Cammo, & Medic drones could be used as detection types, particularly the Cammo ones. The Shield also seem like they might have a sensor type setup in those rounded arms and the Medic might be stated with a welding torch on the one arm and be a construction type drone. Or even as a repair bot for tripod. But, I wander here - the first set is by far the best and within reasonable cost range. Cheers!
