You say you want a "heat ray fence?" Don't load Scott up needlessly with expectations. He is absolutely correct to avoid ANY possible copyright issues with AD/AQ. There is nothing like a good, juicy copyright infringement judgment to sweeten up the pot for the bankruptcy proceedings. He might be able to produce a "high tech laser security fence" that would avoid the issue, but would the AQ players be open enough in looking at it to recognize it as a "heat ray fence?"
That said, NOTHING prevents individuals from making things inspired by the AQMF universe for personal use--just not for commercial sale. Now, back to the heat ray fences:
Go to the hobby shop, a plastics dealer or craft store and purchase some "fluorescent acrylic" rod. It comes in red, yellow, blue, and green rods about 1/16th inch diameter and lengths up to about 3 feet. Get some styrofoam or balsa wood and cut rectangular pillars the size you want. Paint them gray. Cut or snap the rods to the length you want between pillars and just poke or glue them into the pillars. Glue the pillars to a wood or plasticard base and paint/detail it. Voila!! You can make these as fast as you could cut, glue and base a paper model. You will be amazed at how good this simple stuff looks on a game table, especially the 3D aspect and vibrant colors.
Nothing prevents you from doing this except your own timidity or your own OCD (trying to hold out for "authentic"AQMF items).
I am not trying to take food out of Scott's mouth, just trying inspire some broader thinking. If you can assemble and paint the tripods, infantry and tank models, you can certainly do this kind of terrain building, too. It is very forgiving.

Yes, I agree with you that this is a good solution for the time being. At some point, the paper versions would be nice for those of us using his paper system for their layouts. Was all I intended - you method or Conquerors items would work find for the 'hardware' 3D version tables.

Well, I could always do some "Laser Defense Barriers" It's not like the basic idea is unique to All Quiet. I'll see what I can do with that and the other requests. Small projects like that are good. (Of course SELLING them is even better)

Or, the DIY guys can draw up some pylons (any graphics program, even PowerPoint, and use day-glo fluorescent markers for the heat rays.
Scott could recommend these markers to emphasize the heat rays on his product when it hits the street. Some of these are really vivid.

Wonderful working up an order now. One question, in the pics of your GMW farmstead #2 theres a paper harvestor martian machine in the process of destroying the building! So depending on licensing issues, you could possibly do paperterrain martian tripod/drones etc from the pictures in the rulebook?!? No pressure but man that would be sweet! Madmorgan: The Harvester in the photo appears to be simply a 2-D graphic mounted on a card. You can make one up, for personal use, by scanning in one of the many photos or sketches and printing on cardstock. If you want a heftier cardboard that won't go through your printer, print the graphic on adhesive label paper (Avery or similar) and stick the graphic on the thicker cardboard. The graphic can be rescaled so that the top of the Harvester is about the even with the height of the "eye" on an assault tripod. A reasonably capable graphics editor will let you get rid of background and or replace it with your choice.

Yes ty for the info boxholder. I'm sure you're correct as its a 2D version, the more I look at it. Great thought for all those out there willing to use 'standins' for a game, especially if using paperterrain models. If anyone does do this, please be sure to announce at any gaming store you might be playing with these figures, that you did them for personal use only. Too many lawyers, too many eyes.

I'm looking for Mark IV or naval 5 inch gun turret equivalents.
