Not to be outdone by other powers, the German military began fielding the Dampfpanzer A7 (Steampanzer A7). As with the other powers, gasoline engines and their fuel were considered problematic, so steam was adopted for the A7. Twin small boilers in the rear were fed from a capacious central coal bunker. This is a Flames of War WW-1 A7V in the process of being converted to steam power. The coal bunker is being added over the rear ventilation grid and dual stacks (from sprue) have been added. These changes remove the rear-facing pair of machinegun positions and rearmost side machineguns. The rear side machinegun positions will be filled. (You must have room for the boilers back there.) Smokestacks exit through what used to be the rear machinegun positions. Their height has not yet been determined. The exhaust pipes for the gasoline engine were removed from the midship area.

Planning to use mostly the standard A7V armament up forward: the front centerline cannon (57mm quick-firing, I think) plus the two forward side machineguns. I will probably add another HMG on top for the commander. Still thinking about changing the two forward viewports to MG positions..they would be more useful there than facing sideways.
With all the space inside, there is room for the main gun to be upgraded to a larger caliber, especially since it has limited traverse...basically the same philosophy used by German WW-2 assault guns. It permitted them to fit a gun that was way oversize for the chassis by dispensing with the turret.

I'm glad someone has taken on the Germans. WW1 style with a little WW2 influence in an AQ wrapping!
