Update from Facebook
I know I have not been as active on here the last couple of months for which I can only take complete responsibility for. I know there are lots of questions so I put together this little FAQ on what is going on.
Q: Is All Quite on the Martian Front still alive?
A: Yes it is, or at least 2nd Edition is still moving forward. The new miniatures are complete for the Martians and the new German Army. The rules have been written and play-tested, and the fluff text is just awaiting final editing. The original artwork is at 70% and we are just looking for a miniature painter to paint the miniatures for the book.
Q: When will 2ndEdition be released?
A: During COVID I took on a partner to keep things going and as part of that I needed to shift focus on a Table-Top RPG based on the Thieves’ World books.
Q: What is Thieves’ World and when will it be released?
A: Thieves” World is a series of anthology stories which began in 1979 and edited by Lynn Abby. The setting is one of the original gritty urban fantasy settings. Kickstarter should be launched at the end of June.
Q: How much has changed between 1st & 2nd Edition?
A: While there have been quite a lot of individually small changes of the rules, when taken all together it is almost a new game. Despite this a fan of 1st Edition will be able to transition very smoothly into 2nd Edition.
Q: Will my 1st Edition miniatures still be usable?
A: Yes, almost all of your 1st Edition miniatures will still be usable. While the focus of the initial 2nd Edition release be on the German Army the release will include a temporary American & British army lists which will bring the old army lists up to date with the new edition.
Q: What happened to all the old 1st Edition models and are they still available?
A: When I acquired AQMF the only models I received in any quantity were the plastic Assault & Scout Tripods. The resin and metal molds were mostly unusable and there were no digital 3D files for anything. The plastic injection molds for the plastic Human Tanks and Martian Tripods were being held by the manufacturer and was not giving them up unless they were paid the $200,000+ they were owed from Alien Dungeon. All that is left are bits and parts of the old resin and metal models. I have been able to salvage some of the resin molds but nothing able to make in significant numbers. When 2nd Edition is released I am open to making the 1st Edition sculpts available to the public to recreate on their own if the fans want.
Q: Has the turn order changed in 2nd Edition?
A: Here is the new turn order:
1) Orders Phase
Issue Orders
Roll for Initiative.
2) Activation Phase
Side A Activation
Side B Activation
3) End Phase
Rally & Check Morale
Resolve End of Turn Effects
Check for Victory Conditions
Q: What are Orders?
A: During the Orders Phase, players can issue an Order to one or more of their Units giving them a minor boost. Orders include: Rally On Me, Double Time, Pour It On, Maximum Effort. It takes a one or more Command Point, a limited resource, to issue an Order.
Q: Is the Move-Shoot-Move mechanic still a thing?
A: No, the Move-Shoot-Move has changed. When a player activates a Unit the Unit will be able to take two actions. The selected actions are: Move, Shoot, Dig In, or Assault. They can not take the same action twice during the same activation but can take the actions in any order they choose.
Q: Have the point costs of the army lists changes?
A: Yes, the points cost have changed significantly.
Q: Have the points been balanced?
A: This was a big priority when redoing the force lists for both sides. Making sure both sides were balanced was a major effort and required a lot of playtesting by my playtesting teams.
Q: Has the way armies are built changed?
A: The way players build their armies has been a major change. It has changed from an a la carte method to a more structured force lists. This is for both the armies of Humanity and Martians.
In 1st Edition Martian players could purchase individual Assault Tripods for 300 points each. In 2nd Edition it is this:
Assault Triad: 10 Points (+1 Command Point)
Select 3 Tripods for the appropriate point cost:
Assault Tripod +30 Points
Dominator Tripod +50 Points
Gatherer Tripod +15 Points
Q: Are there any new Martian units?
A: Yes, new units include Raider Tripod, Constructor Crawler, Sentinel, & Heat Ray Post.
Q: Have Lobototons and Drones received a buff to actually make them worth buying?
A: Absolutely, the buffs include:
- The previous two types of Lobototons have been merged into a single type armed with both blades and a blaster weapon.
- The control range of Lobototons’ & Drones’ control range has been increased.
- When out of control range Lobototons & Drones’ no longer sit still and act as target dummies and will now move and attack the closest enemy unit.
- Drones have two Structure Points
Q: Dose a Tripod’s armor get reduced as it takes damage?
A: No, while the Tripod’s armor does not get weaker the armor is slightly easier to penetrate in the first place.
Q: Has the damage chart for Tripods changed?
A: Yes, the Tripod damage chart has changed significantly and there are separate damage charts for the 3 different size classifications of Tripods.
