My copy came on Sunday but there was packing tape on page 1 which cannot be removed without damaging it. Couldn't decide whether to send it back or not for a couple of days but I have just done return on amazon and they are going to send me a replacement and I don't need to send the other one back

Thank you, sir! The shift from America to the Old World didn't bother you?

Thank you, sir! The shift from America to the Old World didn't bother you? Not in the least. I need to learn the composition of the British Deep Raiding Group and find a good proxy for the Martian transport / cargo machine. I love to learn more about the change in British politics, economics, culture and attitude during the reconstruction after the first invasion and prior to the second. and sun beam heat rays and grenadier tripods make an appearance.

Mine came Monday and I’ll probably finish it today. It’s a great read. Highly recommended.

So I finished it yesterday. It truly made it a world war! The old characters popping in ties it in nicely with the other books. The German bomber Zeppelin-Staaken was built in 1916 and would be great in the next book.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. If you got your copy from Amazon, please, please, please post a review there! Those reviews are extremely important. The Amazon algorithms decide how aggressively they advertise books based on the number of reviews.

is this a novel or a graphic novel, like a great big comic book? How many have been done? I would love to hear some feedback from you guys about how good this book is.
also Mr. Scott are you writing these with the all quiet on the Martian front game in mind? Or is it just the same topic but you were very own version of the story?
I know BattleTech had several authors that wrote paper back books that were part of the storyline of the game. I thoroughly enjoyed those!

Bigwally, as you probably know by now they are novels, rather than comics or illustrated novels (although they do have lots of maps). They were originally intended to be a direct tie-in with the game and me and my publisher had a gentleman's agreement with the owner of the game. Unfortunately the game owner went bankrupt before the first novel appeared. So we dissolved the agreement and I went back and filed off all the serial numbers (I removed any DIRECT references to the game) and we went ahead and published the novel as an independent story. This was quite successful and I've gone ahead with the series. More novels are in the offing!

I think that would have been awesome that you were writing the story line to the game or following the storyline of the game. Either way would’ve been awesome! I hate it for all of us that it did not work out that way. However, I am very excited to read the books nonetheless. I’m looking so forward to Friday when they should be here. I may disappear off of here for a while once I get into them!

Sure, you have to accept HG Wells premise of actual Martians existing (it's science fiction after all) then it becomes a fascinating alternate history tale.

I only have a bare outline. My publisher drafted me into writing a novel set in Mantic Games' Kings of War setting and I recently finished it. I hope to get back to the Great Martian War in the near future.
