As a lot of you know, I've finished the manuscript for the next book in my Great Martian War series. This book will shift the scene of action from America to the rest of the world (principally the Middle East). The book is in the editing process right now and we hope to have it available in January. But I thought I'd post a few teasers her for my loyal fans We shall start out with a map!

Well, there aren't enough of them (yet) to actually control all that area. They've just destroyed the centers of possible resistance inside those areas. An awful lot of that gray space was sparsely inhabited even before the Martians arrived.

Gads, doesn't look too good for the Humans. And it's debilitating that there's no "contested" areas in the USA - we should assume (yes, I know) that the entire boundary of Martian/Human is contested right??
Can't come soon enough! How much is your work being coordinated with the 2nd edition rules?? Do you contribute any maps, etc. to that work??

Morgan, The new owner contacted me about coordination 6 or 8 months ago. We had a very nice phone conversation about our respective plans and ideas. At his request I sent him a long essay about where I have gone with my books, where I planned to take them, and my thoughts on coordinating with the game. And then... silence. Not sure what to make of that. I guess he's just busy

The 'contested areas' are just meant to designate places where there are no clearly defined 'front lines'. The humans aren't holding a defensive position, but the Martians haven't built holdfasts to control the area, either.

Looks like Korea built a force field!
Would that be a combined European force holding the line is western Russia?

I should point out that the new owners might be leery of incorporating any significant input or idea from outsiders. In the current environment, it opens the door for litigation regarding the intellectual property. "Tis a sad but true effect of having plenty of lawyers with little to do (on both sides of the issue).

"Tis a sad but true effect of having plenty of lawyers with little to do (on both sides of the issue). In order for there to be peace on earth, First kill all the Lawyers. (Mark Twain) If a town has one lawyer, he will starve. If a town has 2 lawyers, both will prosper. (same) I would well and truly like Scott to read my "fan fiction" if only to coordinate times, places and names. He can't, because of copyright laws and intellectual property laws. I would dearly love to playtest the new rules edition but I can understand why I am not invited at this time. How do you tell a lawyer is lying? She's breathing. Lawyers cawn lie in their sleep.
