i am a bit uncertain about this revision of the lobotons. It seems to turn them into a swarm of autonomous walking cruise missiles.
Has the cost been increased? Or are they more easily killed? Something has to balance out the number of attacks that they can deliver. Are there limits on detection range for loboton attacks or movement?
Don't understand that last sentence: "Also any command issued to a Tripod controlling any Lobo or Drone also affects the Lobos and Drones."

I'm guessing it refers to the command chits that allow double movement? Of course that was a first edition rule.

Gads, that is all very hard on the humans. How much range increase? As is you've got (on a normal 4' x 6'/8') battlefield only 24" of 'dead' space to play with (playing 4' width of coarse. You've doubled up the utility of the Lobos and given them autopilot, so command radius isn't as important. Part of the play for humans was trying to take out those Slaver controllers. Does this mean there are no more Slaver models?? I mean, for my points, I'm lining up a large number of Lobos and sending them on their way - according to this they'll do their thing without any oversight! Dang! 30x50! So I'm going to have to rebase all my 'squared' infantry I've do so far and guess I've wasted my money on Litto square bases to date! Is there anything in the 2ed rules for all those armies out there with 'old' based infantry. Frankly, I see this as a slap in the face to those of us who based lots of infantry! What about MG stands and the other units that base on squares??

I believe its been stated that the 2nd edition rules will have provisions for the old style bases. I'm not quite sure what I'll do with all my infantry on those old bases. But I'm glad they are going away. When I designed my PaperTerrain All Quiet houses I had to make them way too large to make them big enough to hold the old bases. Now any of my buildings (European, Russian, Middle East, Oriental) will work just fine As for the lobos, I don't use them. Always seemed a silly idea to me.

I hate the Lobos, I never liked the idea of the Martians playing with their food.

Actually, in the original Wells story, the unnamed artilleryman speculates that if the Martians conquer Earth they will eventually train humans to work as slaves and even turn some into auxiliary forces to help hunt down free humans. THAT idea I rather like and I've been dropping hints in my stories that the Martians might be working in that direction. The problem with that is that it will take quite a lot of time to actually come about. I think the original designers wanted them right away and took the cyborg approach that they did.

Subverting humans (or other organics) by using the loboton technology added a new creepiness factor. In that regard, they added to the game.
True, lobos are a waste of good food, but the psych value of humans having to kill other humans is wrenching.

I suppose that they could always be de-cybered and eaten?!? See my thread on the 2nd generation units, which include an updated and all new (non-human) based 'foot' trooper.

I suspect that yanking out all the wiring would be lethally traumatic for the human. If not, then the remaining knowledge or memory of being lobotomized would truly wreck the person.
Breaking out the old BBQ grill (or low level heat ray) might be the only merciful thing to do. Of course, "mercy" is not in the Martian dictionary.

Hmmm, I thought that it was the blood the Martians wanted. In any case, the 'dual' Lobos will be a definite upgrade.
