Inspired by q's excellent write up of his Prussian forces, I decided to try my hand at the line with a pro-British look. By this I mean, doing both the BlackHats Brits and German figures/vehicles as a BEF type force. To this end, I want to again praise both Black Hat & Slave2gamings efforts for all us '18mm' gamers out there. Some of these will show up in special forces (ei Nemos Nightmares) and others as a growing number of replacements for current BEF systems.
Black Hat Arms Inc. is an up and coming star in the tight British arms manufactoring market. They specialize in unique vehicles and weapons, incorporating Martian metals and tech whereever possible and creating new designs of weapons to help the Tommy on the battlefield of USA. From the tripod like walkers and hovertanks, to the new 'laser', BHA is known for inovation as well as solid products.
Weapons: here is a list of current weapons produced by BHA. The brackets {} indicate the figure line nationality.
Mars Autorifle R15" +1Pow RF 3 Spec: n/a Comments: Using the Mar Pattern rifle, BHA has created an automatic version to be used in their vehicles
Light Gatling Gun R20" +2Pow RF 3 Spec: Jam (natural rolled '1', can't fire till next fire phase) Comments: lightest in a series of impressive gatlings
Medium Gatling Gun R30" +3Pow RF4 Spec: Jam (as above) Comments: used as both a tank and as a wheeled gun by naval crews
Heavy Gatling Gun R40" +4Pow RF5 Spec: Jam (as above) Comments: top line weapon that outshines the Martian Heavy Heatray
QF 32pdr ATgun Rng 90" +3/+4Pow Barrage 1 Spec: Bombardment; HE/AP shells. Comments: upgraded version of 32pdr, used in heavy hovercraft/tank/walker
Laser Gun {Prussian} Rng 30" +4Pow RF1 Spec: Overheat (=Jam) Comments: humanity finally develops something equal to the heavy Martian heatray
Hand Gatling Rng15" +1Pow RF3 Spec: Jam (as above) Comments: BHA replacement for the Lewis, but jamming is a problem
32pdr Recoiless Rifle Gun {Prussian} Rng 30" +4Pow RF1 Spec: 4 crew. Comments: equal to 4".
Vehicles: here is a list of current vehicles and tanks produced by BHA. All BHA vehicles and tanks have radios. The brackets {} indicate the figure line nationality
Hovercraft = Vehicle/tank can glide over waterways and swamp/marsh type difficult terrain without penalty. Other types of difficult terrain still effect a penalty on movement.
Light APC Hovercraft {Brit} 1 element @90pts Spd 7" Def 4 Arm 7 Spec: Hovercraft; 4 crew; Transports up to 10 infantry; Turret. Comment: Nemos
Light Gatling Gun Rng 20" +2Pow RF 3 Spec: Jam (rolled '1' can't fire till next firephase); Turret (360 degree arc)
Heavy Tank Hovercraft {Brit} 1 element @115pts Spd 7" Def 4 Arm 8 Spec: Hovercraft; 6 crew. Comment: also Nemos Nightmare
(1) QF32pdr ATgun Rng 90" +3/+4Pow Barrage 1 Spec: Bombardment; HE/AP shells; forward arc only
(2) Mars Autorifles Rng 15" +1Pow RF3 Spec: side mounted, one ec side, side arcs only
Light APC-P {Prus} 1 element @90pts Spd 7" Def 4 Arm 7 Spec: 4 crew; Transport 10 infantry or Tow & crew; can be used for command as well.
(1) Medium Gatling Gun Rng 30" +3P RF4 Spec: Jam (as above); forward arc. Comments: BHA replacement for the Lloyd Cardigan
Heavy Tank-P {Prus} 1 element @115pts Spd 7" Def 4 Arm 8 Spec: 6 crew; Sponsons. Comments: unusual as no mgs or front mounted weapon
(2) Laser Gun Rng 30" +4Pow RF1 Spec: Overheat (= Jam); one each side sponson. Comments: equal to Martian heavy heatray, replaces Imperial and Kitcheners. Some crews in the field have taken to mounting an external MG to top for anti"infantry" purposes.
Light Walker {Brit} 1 element @90pts Spd 7 Def 5 Arm 9 Spec: 6 crew. Comments: 3 drivers, one per each 'foot' work as a team; Tripod Like, treat as tripod for movement; Tripod Damage Table, takes 2 critical hits to destroy.
(1) Heavy Gatling Gun Rng 40" +4Pow RF5 Spec: Jam (as above); forward arc.
Heavy Walker {Brit} 1 element @115pts Spd 7" Def 6 Arm 10 Spec: 10 crew. Comments: 3 drivers, one per each 'foot' work as a team; Tripod Like, treat as tripod for movement; Tripod Damage Table, takes 3 critical hits to destroy.
(1)QF32pdr ATgun Rng 90" +3/+4Pow Barrage 1 Spec: Bombardment; HE/AP shells; forward arc;
(2) Heavy Gatling Gun Rng 40" +4Pow RF5 Spec: Jam (as above); forward arc.
Note that both British vehicles can be equipped with tank trends, thus I'm including these as well.
Light APC-B {Brit} 1 element @75pts - same rules as Lt. Hovercraft without the Hovercraft special rule and Comment: replaces Cardigan Carrier
Heavy Tank-B {Brit} 1 element @100pts - same rules as Hev. Hovercraft without the Hovercraft special rule and Comment: less likely replacement for Imperial tank.
Next up - equipping units with these - I'm also looking to use some of the Imperial Marine Guard figures as well, they are all sorta of armored and have rifles (and pavises!) and just look neat enough to have as some sort of aux. troops. Still thinking on that one - enjoy!
