I see the Mark IV as a problem. It is way to pricey to be a "tank" and get killed with one hit. Some play it as a machine using the Goliath hit chart. I do this:
Hit a Mark IV, it must make a morale test. The tank takes one critical hit. On the next hit, the same. On the third critical hit, the vehicle is destroyed.
Thoughts?

When I fight a martian, I fight it until it blows up. usually this means dropping its armor to Zero. I have seen rules that say a Tripod is destroyed by 3 critical hits and an Overseer requires 5 critical hits. Do people play that way?

The thing is that Edison Wire, like mines, denies an area, it seldom causes casualties. You channel Marvin into a kill sac and wack his doodle with ATgs or Howitzers. (Good Fun.)

After Christmas there is often a good supply of usable terrain items.
Pine trees, the bottlebrush type, are in abundance. One thing to remember is scale. A 4 inch tall tree is 400 inches in scale. That's 33 feet, a decent but shorter tree. A six inch tree is 50 feet tall in scale. That is a reasonable height for a tree. A foot tall tree is 100 feet tall. this is still well within the average height of most trees. Dinky trees just don't look right.
Little houses can be useful. Some need repainting and other such, but most work well enough. A good way to determine the scale of a house is to measure the door. 3/4 to 7/8 of an inch is about right.
There is a lot of variety in the things available. The embossed vinyl with brick or stone patterns can be used, but be careful of the size of the pattern.
Of course, as with everything, there are no terrain police. Cool is the fuel. have fun.

Always wondered the effect of telephone/power lines on the martians? There has been lengthy discussion on Edison Wire, TAE's attempt to weaponize power lines. A tripod can take damage from a power line. Telephone lines are physically weak and there is very little juice going through them. Running a heavy duty steel cable from telephone pole to telephone pole will be a way to entange tripods. Lots of details to work out. The thing is that if a power line is down in one place, it is down everywhere, and I don't think there is a way to wire them in series. Unpowered cables can be run between two poles over and over, so that when Marvin tries to crash through a line of telephone or power poles, it ends up entangled and dragging two telephone poles.

Time: There are eons of it while you are forced to wait, but never enough of it when you need to act.
