I decided to add an element of greater pathos to the Harvester. What better way than to have a female victim going "down the hatch," as it were, instead of some random guy.
I cut the guy off the end of the tentacle. Then I carefully cut the base off one of the fleeing civilian women, leaving her feet. I bent the end of the tentacle slightly to match her shape and superglued it around her waist. It won't go all the way around without breaking, so I used a short bit of small diameter plastic rod on the other side to give the impression of encirclement. All that remains is to paint and assemble.
As for the guy, I cut him in half at the waist to get rid of the molded tentacle. He will be found half way into the chomper, head down with feet in the air.
The only thing more heart-rending would be a little girl headed for the chomper. Hmmm...

Or a dog!
Edit:perhaps you could make the harvester holding an entire family.
I look forward to the pics.

Here are some photos of the unfortunate lady. Please forgive the quality. The camera autofocus had a devil of a time finding and locking onto such a small target. The victim chosen was a fleeing woman who had one hand on her hip and the arm looped outward a bit. It looks like she was made just to be fighting the encircling tentacle. The base was then carefully cut away from her feet. Rufus (the doofus) was clipped off the end of the tentacle and the point was sharpened a bit to fit into the looped arm of the lady from behind. The tentacle was curved just a bit. She was then superglued onto the tentacle end. Overall view: Back view--Have not trimmed down the blob of excess superglue yet. Wanted to make sure of plenty of bonding area. Will trim it down before painting. Front view--A small piece of plastic was bent to fit around her waist to look like the rest of the tentacle: The tentacle will be posed with her being lifted back over the chomper, obviously kicking and screaming. Nothing really to show about Rufus. He was cut in half at the waist and his legs were bent a little to add a bit of a candid appearance. He will be glued head down in the chomper with only his lower half sticking up.

Great stuff. I'd put the 'discarded' man with the severed tentacle on the battlefield as an accent piece, properly painted up. Sgt Ashley hates Harvesters. Lost his family to one. Hmmm, in fact that'd make a great base for the Sgt Ashley figure

Easye:
I haven't yet found a dog that looks identifiably canine at this scale. A reprieve of sorts for the doggy.
Have not yet had a chance to fit folks into the reaper claw. Will probably need to open up the jaws a bit.
Thanks again

There's a game from Z-Man Games that has does the whole zombie survival thing. Actually a series of games. They also sell bags of both extra zombies, military zombies (glow-in-the-dark figures) and Zombie Dogs!! The scale is just about right (kinda 19 or 20 mm) and they look 'dead'. A little added green putty lobo helmets and your all set! In fact I'm looking at my 'bag-o-zombie-dogs' right now and will do a few 'units' of 15 of those myself. Great idea. Suggested stats: Lobototon Wardogs @30 points 3 elements of 15 figures Speed 8 Defense 5 Armor 5 Specials: Charge = first turn of combat, wardog rolling a hit will knock human victim to the ground, gaining +1 Power for its Bite that phase only. Agile = not effected by Difficult Terrain. Bite: Range Assault +2 Power RoF 1 Special: a penetrating hit allows next assault phase attack at +2 to hit. These monsters are used particularly around known human cavalry environments and when there are suspected hidden or ambush units in thick woods or ruins. Their ability to root out dug-in ambushes and ruins hidden units makes them highly valued.
