wow nice collection that. I'm reminded of Indiana Jones series with the whole zeppelin episode; some great CGI shots and layouts in that one!

For what it is worth:
There is still one of the dirigible hangars at Moffett Field outside of San Francisco CA. Unless it has been torn down recently, there is one of the blimp hangars at Goodyear Akron OH and another somewhat smaller one outside Akron at a site called Wingfoot Lake. The last time I was around there, they were still in use, so you might be able for finagle a visit.

Short Towers proved to be more practical than taller ones. Likewise, it became common to tether an Airship by the nose and it weathercock like a windmill.
Using a tank as a towing vehicle is a great idea. It has the mass needed and the power needed for a stout winch.
There were Airships designed to carry cargo that weighed more than a tank. It may be necessary to have the towing vehicle tow a trailer for the added weight.
And yes, there were many airships more than 400 feet long, longer than the short edge of the table.

Great posts guys - the suspended tank is intrigued me to workup something with a Monitor or Howitzer. One question - if the tank were to fire whilst in the air would it break it straps?? Cause the Zep to go backwards?? Etc...

Bad Madmorgan, no biscuit. No, we're not going to fire the tank guns while you're hanging under the airship. No. Sit. Stay.

Pant, Pant - really I don't purpose that - would have to be a "Courageous" crew to do that anyway. And no, Patton might use the transportation method, but even he won't tempt those fates. I really like Thomas Muffins btw. woof
