I am putting together some things to take pictures of miniatures.
I have a lamp that has an adjustable arm. In addition to a compact fluorescent bulb, it has a built-in magnifier. I use the magnifier to assist painting. I have a mounting bracket intended to hold a phone to an AC vent in a car. I was going to modify my lamp to accept the mounting bracket, putting my camera and main light source in an adjustable, stable mount.
The camera can shoot straight down or from the side. Top-down shots will work well when using photos of figures for tokens on Skwyre. It will also be possible to take shot of figures on their backs to capture details. It is possible to get the camera to within a few inches of the figure.
How important is it to get some reflectors (foil on foam core) involved?
It will be possible to cobble together a different camera support for tabletops later; first things first.

You might really want to use white posterboard or foamcore for your reflectors. These will diffuse the light and help even things out. They will avoid hot spots that a bright metallic reflector can create.
