Reporting 1 death and undetermined injuries as they're still trying to dig out from a 6" rain that flooded the already two rivers that this Maryland town is in the fork of. Why AQ interest - this was the original location of AD and possibly still Ernie & Barbs home - not sure if they returned to this area or if they still owned the property in town. But it was horrible to watch what was a fun place to visit with many unique businesses not found around this area of the country must. I hope they don't find anymore bodies and things go easy on the now homeless folks & businesses - but we've got more heavy rains on the way through the first of the week. Our thoughts go to them all.

That's a shame! I bought my very first set of CW reenactment gear in Ellicott City. There were some nice antique shops there, too. Can't say I remember the rivers, but obviously they were close by. I never visited Ernie and Barb's place. I hope they are okay.

Ditto on E&B. Ellicott City is like a quiet outdoor mall. Of the numerous small mom & pop stores there, all at ground level, the thought of them wiped is tragic. A rare bookseller store with volumes of hard, if not impossible, to find books. A wonderful traditional Indian restaurant, the exotic jeweler doing one-of-a-kind pieces and showing off numerous small local artists works. The cotton weaver with their wonderful fresh garments, the reenactment clothier making you look the period, the pottery store with its unique items from hundreds of local artists. And don't forget the truly tragic lost of the train museum! You could actually take a low cost tour through at 1800s train car or locomotive. Not to mention the various historical mills and history buildings used to show off period accurate pieces and the antique shops. Barbara had a small shop in a location that sat over the river literally. One of those houses that was built with stilts jutting from the main house. She did miniature dioramas, mostly in 25-28 mm. She actually used to go to small conventions like Cold Wars and Fall-In, which is where I got my Arabic camel seller and his dancing gal under some pop-off tents with all the trimmings inside! Like a doll house, those tents were. I got that for my lady who was dancing at the time as well. Without AD she'd still probably be doing those - they sold well and were very worth the price. Although a bit dusty now, that piece is still as alluring and fun as it ever was. Even used it for my Runequest RPG back in the day - the tents of Baltizar, the Merchant. Sad to say, there has been another confirmed death, making 2 thus far, and the rubble is still being combed through. I expect some more, as the storm caught them around the summer supper hour (that being after 6 but before 10pm) and lots of vehicles were swept away. My thoughts go out to all those folks.
