A repost from the old forum I was working on my trenches and I came up with the idea of combining some of the left over gun casemates from the plastic tank models with the trenches. I could see that in the rush to get the MK III steam tanks into production the manufacture of the guns and the armor might well outstrip the manufacture of the much more complicated chassis and engines. The result being that a lot of guns and armored casemates might be lying around waiting for tanks to mount them on. But the war being as desperate as it is, there was no sense in leaving perfectly good guns and casemates lying around in warehouses when they could be blasting Martians! So, I could see them being used as isolated pillboxes (as some other players have done) or being incorporated into other defensive works. Like this: Creating these was fairly simple. First I took a section of trench and cut it into 1” sections. Then I cut off one side of the trench, even with the floor. Next I assembled the casemates and guns leftover from the tank models. Then I attached them to the trench pieces using some Green Stuff. The casemates are produced angling somewhat downward so I built up the front a little and pressed some railroad gravel into the face to match the resin trench. After that it was a matter of priming and painting them. They fit in with the other trench pieces perfectly.

Great idea. When the trench sets are back in production I might copy your work.

We should note that it would be pretty easy to do this with some of Scott's Paper Terrain trenches.
Why wait for the resin?

Indeed, in fact he could produce the same thing in his product line as well! This technique would work really easily with Acherons 15 & 20mm trench lines - it would require very little work to assemble several to mix in with those trenches. TY for reposting several of your excellent works scott - we all benefit greatly from your love of the game
