I attached a photo of a Tesla tank I created using machine parts...its big a clunky!... being in the electrical industry...no way for Tesla to have created a lighting gun so streamlined as the original in AQ....
Also note the labels I use for marking at least one element in a unit Green is speed, red is armor rating, yellow is defense It really simplifies the game mechanics without losing the look of the vehicles. Lot less referencing to charts during play...only thing to do as a player is to know the range of the weapon...I use range sticks for weapon type...again, very simple, clean and no tape measures snapping shut destroying figs!!!

I used photo paper Scotch tape holds them very well to base of models None game off during a 3 hour game with 6 players

Again nice work - the range sticks in particular as cheap and much less 'clunky' to use on the table top. Easy to make enough for all the players at a store or convention sitting with out fear of too many 'walking' also. Tape measures aren't always cheap.

The range sticks are just bass wood strips from Hobby Lobby, just paint them for the distances and I mark the base....if they walk, then there are bigger issues with the person stealing them...they can have em!
What I like is no looking up ranges for newbies and the tape doesn't snap back and catch the figs...also you can use it as a quick line of site reference. The Martians only need 2 sticks, one for Scout and one for assaults...the Slavers and Drones use their own

Really good idea those sticks! Reminds me of playing Sword & Flame and other games (Chainmail egads!).

Yes it does bring back memories of my early battles in the 1970's.
And the sticks are handy for poking Martian tripods' eyes out with too. :-)

Heh heh. I'd make a few others as well for the specialty weapons of the Martians (missile pod on Dominator and sungun on the Overlord, as well as a few other new weapons I've introduced) and for the longer ranges on ship fire. Those tabs for the units are nice as well; I could see them as a big help, especially for aircraft under the system I setup (x/y/z). On table information is always a help, especially if 'training' new folks to the game - bravo.
