Here is the second installment on the S2G units. This time we'll look at the armor of the 8th KGL. As before all the figures are from S2G, a secret plant moved from Australia to the USA, producing tech advanced units. All of the tanks are gasoline or oil driven and have radios.
Company HQ: British Officer, Sergeant, LMG, (2) Snipers,@30; MG Squad (3 mg & 6 crew)@60; + (1) GTS (transporter)@90. = 180/3 units
Mechanized Infantry Platoon: (2) GTS transports @180 ec with a full Infantry Squad (10 men)@120. 300/4 units
* Officer and Sergeant act as HQ for this platoon.
Support Platoon: (2) MGS (mg tanks). 220/2 units
Armor Platoon: (2) G4S (4" gun tanks). 250/2 units
1st Cavalry Squad : Officer w/pistol*, (5) Lancers w/adhesive thermite lances, [Assault +4], titanium sword [Assault +2] @75/1 unit
[Fire From Saddle]
2nd Cavalry Squad : Sergeant, (5) Lancers w/adhesive thermite lances [Assault +4], titanium sword [Assault +2] @75/1 unit
[Fire From Saddle]
Total Company: 1100 Points in 13 Units = 7 BP [5 Order Tokens] At 70% =770 Break Point.
Alternative Organization. Starting in late 1916, the Armor was reorganized based on combat experience. It was found that too often the Mechanized and Support platoons were caught by tripods and destroyed. Thus, the new organization combined all three types of tanks into one platoon and the size of the company was increased. Also, the adhesive lance is replaced with a 'thermite lance' that is much more advanced.
The command and cavalry formations remain the same.
Company HQ: British Officer, Sergeant, LMG, (2) Snipers,@30; MG Squad (3 mg & 6 crew) @60 + (1) GTS (transporter)@90#. =180/3 units.
1st Armor Platoon: (1) G4S, (1) MGS, (1) GTS with Infantry Squad *(can carry 15 men but usually only 10 man squads#). =425/4 units.
* Officer and Sergeant act as HQ for this platoon.
2nd Armor Platoon: ditto above. =425/4 Units
* Officer and Sergeant act as HQ for this platoon.
3rd Armor Platoon: ditto above. =425/4 Units
* Officer and Sergeant act as HQ for this platoon.
1st Cavalry Squad : Officer w/pistol*, (5) Lancers w/thermite lances, [Assault +4], titanium sword [Assault +2] @75/1 unit
[Fire From Saddle]
2nd Cavalry Squad : Sergeant, (5) Lancers w/thermite lances [Assault +4], titanium sword [Assault +2] @75/1 unit
[Fire From Saddle]
Total Company: 1605 Points in 17 Units = BP 9 [6 Order Tokens] At 70% = 1124 Break Point.
Total Prussian Company: 1665 Points in 17 Units = BP 9 [6 Order Tokens] At 70% = 1166 Break Point. #the HQ has a G7V instead of GTS - see below
Equipment of the S2G (addition).
All infantry, cavalry, and vehicle crews have enclosed suit, giving them "Gas Immune" as per USA Assault Infantry rules.
Adhesive Thermite Lance: [Assault +4] This is a 'sticky' bomb, using S2G developed thermite instead of explosives. Unlike the more flexible infantrys grenadier, the trooper has no choice but to use it on tripods and drones alike. Note that all officers and troops have a titanium edged sword as a second weapon once the lance is used. The sword gives them an Assault +2.
MGS: @110 points Spd 7" Def 5 Arm 10 Special: Fire Suppression System [roll 7+ to negate a hit]; non-coal fuel; Radio.
(3) MG: Rng 20" +2 Pow RF 3 Spec: Mars Pattern gun; Forward & Side Arcs only.
G4S: @125 points Spd 7" Def 5 Arm 10 Special: Fire Suppression System; non-coal fuel; Radio.
(3) 4"F Guns: Rng 30" +4 Pow RF 2 Spec: Folding Recoil Gun, allows smaller recoil, faster reloads; Tripod Buster Shell, gives +2 Pow. Rolling a natural '1' indicates a Jam, preventing the shot this phase. Can fire the next fire phase (unless you roll a '1' again of coarse).
GTS: @90 points same as the MGS but with only (1) MG firing in forward arc only. May transport up to 15 men, but usually only has 10 man squads. The command squad takes up more space, being 12 (officer & men). #You may alternatively have it carry 10 men, dropping a Sgt. & a Sniper from the squad. If you use this alternative, the command squad has : Officer, LMG , Sniper, MG Squad (3 mg & 6 crew) + (1) GTS = 3 Units/BP.
Thermite Lance [Assault +4] - these are a more advanced version of the above Adhesive version. As the 'sticky' seemed to cause a lot of problems up to getting entangled with other lancers, the newer lance has no outer component, instead firing a projectile from the lance that sticks on contact and ignites its thermite charge. The other advantage to this is that the lance has number of these small rocket-like projectiles, allowing the lance to be used over and over in a given battle. Note that all the lancers have a rifles, which they're trained to Fire From the Saddle.
BR GTS Command tank is outfitted with additional radios, etc., in the transport bay
#PR G7V replaces the GTS as the command tank in Prussian units. Its development was a nod to the Prussians desire to have a better gunned version of a command vehicle, one which could better defend itself from drones and heat rays. The high armor rating is due to a new technique of a buffer of asbestos between outer and inner armor plating. As the stats show, it fulfills its role.
G7V :@150 Spd 4" Def 5 Arm 9 Spec: Fire Suppression System; Radio; non-coal fuel.
57mm Gun: Rng 30" +2 Pow RF 2 Spec: Rapid Fire; Jam on natural '1'; Front arc only.
(5) Mars Pattern MGs: Rng 20" +2 Pow RF 3 Spec: (2) each Side arc; (1) Rear arch; replace 57mm with (1) Front arc only. (total 6 in second version)
Please note the major difference in the LMG & MG stats for the infantry units. See my other S2G thread for the infantry gun. Due to a vast improvement over the drum feed, the light machine-gun requires only one operator. Also, the MG reduced to 1 crew now has a 'Jam' roll and will always have at least a rate-of-fire of 2 as long as it doesn't jam. PS: upped the speed of the G7V to 6 due to the S2G crew noting their intent was a 'mobile' force for their figures.
