Work is proceeding. The main gate will feature a Monitor style turret ( will double duty eventually with an armored train car) and two flanking Mark II superstructure pieces that will be observation posts for artillery/ armored HMG positions.
Will add concertina wire and further flocking. I would like to add is hoists or cranes to the gate and gun platforms - any suggestions for finding them ready made?

Walters has some nice cranes in large scale that would probably be correct height. These are all HO (1/87) scale. My favorites from the extensive list #36391 Industrial Crane $29.95; #405-10202 Construction Crane $33.99 (o/s but coming back in soon); #405-38101 Lift Equipemnt Set w/Crane $23.99 (these has a bunch of stuff you could use for various projects); #405-39817 Timberyard & Crane (has loop type end, for big shells?); #683-214 I beam Crane Hoist $11.45 (might work with a little modify). There were numerous others, most much more expensive. I'll list this one although its a preorder item for 17 June - #722-120232 Steam Crane kit with Boon $37.99. It really looked great but for the expense and time frame; I figure you'd like this done sooner. The I Beam one might be the more affordable for the number of platforms your planning to serve; still rather costly for the barricade. They have a Jib Crne #293-8007 at $5.95 if you can work on the crank part as its a hand crank. One option on that is a small building (scratch build) to house that part. Good hunting - looks great all around:)

Congrats on a well done & spectacular project!! Recommend Old Glorys WW1 British guns with artillery crews as you get 8 figures with a gun, consisting of 3 with helmet & wearing a gasmask case on their chest (for your guns), 3 with 'cunt' hat & no gasmask appearing and a two man figure carring ammo chest between them - one in helmet with gasmask on chest, the other in hat with no gasmask! That latter one is hard on me, love the ammo crate, hate working with 'split' figures. I'll have to put a slung gasmask pouch on his side! In anycase, one gun & crew gets you the three man crew you need for your non-turret gun & extra figures with a gun for use elsewise. A cheaper alternative is a few packs of the mortar teams as they come with 6 crew - 3 helmeted/gasmasks & 3 hats without. BTW how long is the barricade - looks like up to 4'!!??

49 inches - gun platforms x3 (4 inches each), big gate - 5 inches, barricades x8 (4inches).
I'll make breached barricades as well. Edison wires are done, too!

Yes! Works perfect for those 'narrow' edge battles (entry/setup on 48" narrow edge for both sides). Setup close enough to the midline, you'll have plenty of time to hit those oncoming Martians with the barricade guns as well as entrenched & mobile batteries behind the barricade (as the Martians enter/setup on the opposite edge at 72"). Just for the record what is the size on your turret gun and the three batteries with gun shields. (I figure at least 7" or more & 3xATgs).

The turret is the Mark IV turret (7 inches), two ATGs, and one mobile arty howitzer (6 inches, I think). The guns are removable so I could put other items in them such as a command team.

As the MkIV turret is stationary, I assume that it can fire every turn? Nice being able to swap out guns - how does that work? Also, did you fine my poor list of cranes any help?

The list was informative, so thank you. But I think I'll try making resin copies of the heavy artillery cranes more for the cheaper cost since I already have the mold making material.

Yeah, if I was as capable I'd do the same. It really wasn't a good 'find' on those things - but, you'll have some nice examples to work from

Work continues. Working on four destroyed barricades and one destroyed gun tower.
I Also made two smaller gates. The smaller gate have three legs so traffic has to come through at an angle but this allows the gate to still be a significant obstacle.
I was able to make several resin copies of the 5 inch naval gun turrets and mounted one on each small gate. I also made resin copies of the ammo tender cranes which aren't all that great but passable and will mount those on each platform.

Man, you do nice work! Those look great. I note you've gone with 5" naval turrets. Is that a change from the 7", the 6" howitzers, and the ATgs?
