I was re-reading the US Artillery rules (pg. 90-92) and found inconsistencies not mentioned in the Living Rule Book revisions.
On page 92 Mobile Artillery Steamers are said to have 6" guns, "the heaviest fully mobile artillery", but the gun stats are the same as for the 3" guns in the Field Gun Battery (page 90).
The guns in the Heavy Field Gun Battery (page 91) are said to be "five or six inches", have much longer range than the 3" guns (150" vs 60") and 4+ power vs 3+.
The stats appear to be wrong for the Mobile Artillery. I could see them having less range than the Heavy Field Guns but they should have 4+ power if they are 6" guns.
I'd be OK with making the guns in the Mobile Artillery 3" to match the gun stats, because I have 3 spare FoW 75mm filed gun barrels I can use in them (the FoW gun barrels and breeches are thicker than the AD ones but identical in length). I've found the 6" gun from the Mobile Artillery Steamers fits the Ironclad Miniatures Faraday Electric Gun 28mm carriage left over from using the electric gun barrel for a conversion, and may use them as old heavy howitzers with only 60" range assigned to a militia unit.

Yes, you're right about the stats inconsistencies. Please be sure to bring this kind of thing up whilst we're working on a given set of pages - I agree that the stats should reflex a 6" gun vs the apparent 3" shown. I'll go back and correct this - both I & terrance (who's done an amazing about of work on corrections) missed this. As I read it the MkIIMA Howitzer should read: Range 150" +4 Power Barrage 3 Special: Bombardment. Thats an amazing amount of power for a batter of 3 at 220pts. Does this sound right? I suppose the light howitzer is correct as its a 4" gun - a point could be made it should be at least a 5" with increased power & barrage, if not range. I think they were trying to just give it 'double' a tanks range and power with a barrage - but, the 3" isn't a 6" on that SPA - they should be some of the bada.. of the table. Laters

If we want the Mobile Artillery to be 6" as stated on page 92 I agree they should have +4 power but the guns are very short compared to the heavy field guns so I'm fine with giving them less range, which would go with the barrel being half as long. Why not just increase their power to +4 and leave the range at 60"?
The regular field guns are supposed to be 3"/75mm not 4" so I think their stats are fine as printed. I don't know how big the light field guns that can be portee'd on flivvers are supposed to be. Maybe 2"/50mm?
I don't like the Mobile Artillery models because the fighting compartment is too small to even open the breech of the 6" gun. I'm seriously thinking of remounting the guns on Ironclad Miniatures Faraday electric gun carriages. The combination looks very good and the shield will fit the gun carriage if narrowed 1mm on each side. I'd use the remnants of the Mobile Artillery models for ammo carrier conversions.

Its interesting the read on the flivver Gun Truck has a 'light gun' at R60" +2Pow B1 the same as the Holt MA 'light howitzer' (R60"+2Pow B1). It defines the HFG are 'five or six inch calibre' and the MkIIMA is defined as a 6" in the italic stats in the sidebar. What a mess in a way. In the tank stats we find the following: all are Rng 30"; 3" gets +1 Pow; 4" gets +2 Pow; and 5" gets +3 Pow - only at 7" do we see a change in range (40") and power (+4 Pow). It seem logical that the gun truck and Holt MA are using 4" guns/howitzer, with the range increase and added barrage the benefit over the limited sights of a tank. Why the 75mm/3" jumps to the stats of a 5" with the same range & barrage increase doesn't make sense. The 6" isn't listed on any other tanks or on the weapons tables, which skip from 5" to 7" and then 8". I agree theres a problem with the crew area you mention - this is what happens when AD tried to have MA similiar to WW2 105mm & 155mm SPA but failed to note the operating space given those vehicles. Heck, even the earlier 'Bishop' and 'Priest' were better designs. At this point, I'm stimied for fixing this without making them 'changes' vs a 'correction', as FA downgraded to the "correct" rating would read Rng 60" +1 Pow Bar 1 ! I'll mull some more over all this. The change to the +4 makes sense in logic - in game terms why bother to make the AT gun?? The power is the same, the range on the AT is half that of a 'regular' gun and it still needs towing, just like the better ranged +4 artillery. So I ponder, weak and weary... thump thump.
