Having a few spare plastic tripod kits I'm starting some conversions to make Gatherers and Constructors. These photos aren't good due to poor lighting in the basement, but show a plastic tripod with legs shortened. All I did was remove the thin portion of each leg - reminds me of sections of steel beams. Next I filed a small groove in the upper leg piece for the 'joint' that was originally abut 1" lower, and glued and pinned the legs back together. The legs are still taller than a Slaver's. My idea for the Gatherers is to use Scout heads and construct a bi-lobed canister 1.25" deep and 2.5" wide that will attach beneath the body and widen to either side of it in the space between the forward and rear legs. Think of it as having the shape of a pair of glasses when viewed from above with the lenses toward the rear. There will probably be a funnel coming forward from the top of the canister on either side of the base of the head into which unfortunate captives can be stuffed. (Maybe Pz3 could use his creative skills to print and mould a suitable canister!) For Constructors I plan to shorten the legs in the same way, modify the front of the Scout head and attach the heavy clawed appendage from an Energy Pylon to a flat plate where the Scout's arms are now. The plate will be based on that on the Slaver and Reaper tripod heads where the tentacles and other things attach. I built two Energy Pylons without their tentacles and claw arms so I'd have some spares for conversions.

The legs are taller than I intended but do leave room for a fairly big prey container below the body. I could have cut off the ends of the legs that glue into the body and reversed them so they slanted upward from the body. I'll probably do that for the Constructor's legs so the body will be 3/8" - 1/2" lower than the Gatherer's and closer to the height of the body on the Slaver.
