What types of Scenarios do you like to see at the Cons?
Big game with lots of tanks, guns and tripods?
Small version with a few big tanks and tripods?
Have to complete a task - capturing human prey and protecting human prey?
Gathering prey or trying to get out of town?
Holding a position or breaking thru?
Others?

How about Meeting engagement. Humans will need more points.

I haven't played one at a convention but I wrote one for one once Ill have to see if I still have the notes anywhere, it was a set piece demo one. low budget, small forces, so that anyone trying the game out wouldnt feel intimidated by the price to get started. unfortunately i never got to run it.

ahh here we go
-----
The battle of Weybridge and Shepperton (the first invasion)
the most notable success on the ground forces in the first invasion was at the battle of Weybridge and Shepperton in which the field guns of the British army managed to destroy a tripod and cause a temporary withdraw by the Martians allowing many civilians to flee the area.
Martian Force
5x scout tripod 750 pts
Human force (use US force list)
5x Field gun battery 400 pts 5x Machine gun 200 pts 4x Infantry squad 120 pts 1x Command squad 30 pts total 750 pts
-----
i think i had planned it as a breakthrough or prey extermination for the Martians with the humans needing to destroy a tripod. i never got to test the scenario and dont have the rest of the notes on the general board layout, deployment and such though i know there was supposed to be a river as the battle happened across one. i used the US forces as they were the ones that most resembled the British forces from the first invasion and i chose this particular battle because i feel that many who read the book would remember it well so it might help draw in more people.
i think i also had another version that used even smaller forces but i dont seem have that file anymore either.

We did one years ago at an HMGS convention. We had a Martian attack against a fortified human town. Worked really well.

Martians vs fortifications with some mobile reserves seems like a decent game and captures the feel of the game pretty well.

Have you played or run a game with a inter city battle with lots of buildings?

I ran several games with a 5x8 table completely covered with buildings. Most were paper terrain from Scott Washburn. Roads were wide enough tripods could move down them. Ended up with lots of infantry hiding in buildings and Martian drones going in after them. Also some tanks that would pop out from behind buildings and take shots. Been a while but memory is it was pretty bloody for both sides. Don’t remember who won, but that may not matter much as it was part of a campaign.
