I have been storing and moving my Tripods in a "Tumbler Packing Box."
I went to U-Haul and got a box with inserts designed to hold tall beverage glasses. It has not worked out well. The Tripods are too loose and break off their bases. Small gubbins also break off. The corrugated cardboard does not seem up to the challenge. Also, being 12 inches deep the compartments are too deep to easily retrieve the tripods.
I have acquired a 10" length of 4 inch diameter black irrigation tube to make a series of cylinders that will be about 6 inches "tall" and use foam wedges to hold the tripod in the tube. I will glue a bottom on the cylinders to prevent the bases from sliding under the walls of the compartment like they do in the "glass holder."
Before I start cutting, I need to know what advice folks have to offer. How tall should I make the cylinders? (Maybe better: How tall is a completed dominator?)
Has anyone tried to use foam wedges or another means to keep the tripod from rattling about in the container?

I also use the U-Haul glass and dish boxes to store my tripods. I cut the cardboard glasses storage part to 6 inches tall and tape the pieces together. (There is not much left of the interlocking tabs at this height.) I also tape the shortened cells to a cardboard base so the tripod bases cannot get stuck under the cardboard walls of the cells. The Dominator is 6.5 inches tall so it is stored on its side in a block of 4 inch tall pluck foam.
I have never had a problem with tripods getting damaged in this storage system, but to be fair I have not transported them much since nearly all the AQ games are played at my house. They do rattle around a bit and I will take your experience to heart and wedge some foam around the heads if I take them very far.

I've not been considering the problem of transport yet. I suspect I'm going to use tail Rubbermaid tubs with sponge dividers and a light handcart for my transport. The local Walmart has a great collection of various size tubs - not so sure on the foam, but a trip to hobby store like Michael's or JoAnns (sewing etc) has turned up all the sizes of foam I could want. Problem will be the making of which - so much to paint, base, cut, and assemble (Paper Terrain) - so little time...

I cut a couple inches off both ends of my u-haul tumbler inserts. My problem is that the tripods shake too much. Assault Tripods have only two solid legs. Lately I've taken to gluing a 3inch rod from the bottom of the head to the base.

I almost hate to put it out there, but the simplest approach is to put all three legs on the ground. If you want to have one leg bent, put something on the base to provide something for the bent leg to stand on: a car, a building, a rock, a bit of wreckage, or just a raised area of the base, etc. Endless possibilities.
No law requires that one leg be elevated.
The other fix is just a bit of foam gently stuffed in the top of the tube to steady the tripod. Foam wedges a can also be cut and used.

true enough. I add a third "leg" out of clear rod because it is much more robust than the standard legs.
