Okay: to get it out of the way:
The Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank was a terrible weapon. If you fired it, the recoil would probably dislocate your shoulder and the range was poor. The good things about the PIAT were that there was no backblast (to speak of) and it had a powerful warhead.
Old Glory sells a package of Piat Teams, 50 figs for about $15.00. the troops are in brodie helmets and they should fit with AQMF. (Old /Glory/Command Decision are pretty close to 15mm so they will be a bit small.
Normally I am not a fan of buying figs from another company, but in this case I am considering getting a package of Tommys with Piats to provide "stovepipes" to my Doughboys.
What do people think?

Sounds reasonable to me I'm planning to get WWII Us bazooka teams and do a head swap so they have the right helmets. For the game, I plan to allow the human player to add stovepipes to their infantry units for a point cost. The stovepipe would have a range of 10" and a power of +2. I'm not sure if it would be good to make the stovepipe team an actual element which can be shot and killed separately (and what that would do to the unit morale) or just use the figures as a marker denoting that the unit has stovepipes. Need to do some playtesting.

I tried a head swap and I did not like the results. Well, I had to pin the head and it was a hassel beyond the results. I think the bazookas looked better. I was thinking about using them as an alternative to an MG element. Instead of ROF 3 and Power +1, the stovepipe is ROF 1, Power +2 and 1" AOE. The idea needs play testing. I like your idea better.

Piats?

I think I like Scott's idea of putting them into the infantry units. Something like the points for the dynamite in a cavalry unit. If they were a separate stand, like an MG, I would increase their rate of fire. They'd be like tank hunter teams in WW 2

I don't know about increasing the ROF for PIAT under any circumstances. It was an awkward and arduous process to recock the propelling spring even for a stout young fellow. And I am not certain that two could cooperate to do it any quicker or more easily.

I was thinking more about bazookas than piats. Piats should just be added to infantry units.

Have a look at my Infantry TO&E weapons available. I include bazookas with airborne units (thus the WWII style helmets) and allow them to be added to some rifle units as well. Here are my stats repeated.
The "Rocket Powered Recoiless Weapon" was developed by Dr. Goodard (of the space center yep) and demonstrated at Aberdeen Testing Grounds. The demostration included Dr. Goodards assistant Dr. Hickman (of the airfield/Guadacanal) and was conducted in November 1918. The weapon was shelved due to Dr. Goodards poor health (TB) and the end of the war. Noted that a Mr. Bush later introduced the 'Stovepipe' to USA forces and so far they are limited in issue to USA & British airborne units. Attaches to an infantry unit @10pts.
"Stovepipe" aka Bazooka @10pts Rng 20" +2Pow RF 1 Spec: 2 crew, if no loader RF drops to 1/2.
Sticky Grenades, Rifle Grenades, PIATs, Panzerfaust, Bolos and Adhesive Lances are all a type of weapon made for very short ranged or man-placed ranges. All were used up close against tripods. They share the same +3 Assault value and drawbacks.
Rifle Grenades (et al above) @10pts Assault +3 Power Spec: roll of a nautral "1" = mishap, unit takes a +3 Powered explosive attack.

The "stovepipe" was a victim of "we don't need it now." Weapons to give the infantry something to be used against tanks weren't "needed" until WWII in real history. In WWI the solution was field artillery. Weapons to fight Tripods became needed in 1894 or so. I may use figures with PIATs, but they will be RPGs. The figures can pass for RPG-1s. I think I'll add them to regular infantry stands.

I've upped the Piats, et al, to 10 points as they overshadow the normal grenades used in the game for infantry assaults. That +1 will cost you now.
