Last week I checked out Cigar Box's 2 AQotMF officially licensed game mats. When I checked again just now they were no longer shown on the website's product list.

Dang it, I was afraid this would happen. I'll write them to see if they want to 'unload' some at a lower price. Dang it!

No great loss. I bought their grassland and Red Planet mats instead of the official one, and I'm glad that I did. You get a lot more flexibility than having the red weed printed on the same place every time.
I love the Cigar Box mats, btw. I think that if I had it to do over again, I would get a scrubland or mixed ground mat for All Quiet. Great product, great company.

Agree, it was just a cool idea to have the weed creeping there. The Red Planet one works well, I'll use the usual red lichen for weed areas.

If they want to unload some let us know! I'm going to buy the grassland one anyway.

Okay. I agree that they might have limited use per americanelm above. However, it is possible they are just pulling them until (hope) someone else pick up the license or reissues a license for AQMF product. Time will tell - I'll get back to as soon as I've heard.

I'm sure thats what it is - still waiting response to query. Most vendors are very forthcoming with license info on failed manufactors. We'll see.

I rather they make red weed mat cutouts like they have for steams, roads , woods to place as desired.

Yes. I mentioned that to them at Fall-In 2015 as well as the fact that there cutout mat has items that are too short to cover the width of one of their 4x6' mats. But, with some red lichen, its easier to add 'red weed' to any battlefield. And some cheaper too.

I guess red felt sections with lichen on top. What are the table top rules for red weed?

Actually the 'fuzzy' felt would look good. Counts like light woods, scrub, etc - Infantry Def +2 Arm 0, Artillery Def +1 Arm 0 Vehicles, Tanks, Tripods have no effect on and counts as Difficult Ground to non-Infantry. Fairly simple really.

I asked Cigar Box via their Facebook page what had happened to their Martian mats. The reply was not an answer to my question - it just said to spread the word about the company!

LOL I got much the same response btw - was going to share that today - as I suspected they're in hopes that someone else will renew the license with them. Until that happens and they put them back out, I am going with the Red Planet one mentioned above with some red lichen and felt - its more a desert terrain where the Martians came/are coming from - and the redfelt/lichen works on any other mat in whatever shape you like.

I got a 'direct' Facebook reply yesterday saying that Cigar Box has discontinued the line of Martian mats - no explanation. There are a few left in stock.

Yep, I've sorta lost interest as the point made about the mats being 'static' is a valid one; way easier and cheaper to build red felt/lichen areas whereever you like
