I have some spare Assault Tripod kits and would like to do some conversions but am not sure about size and leg lengths. I couldn't find any images of the Gatherer tripod so don't know whether to use the full size legs or shorten them, as was done in what seems to be a pre-production image of the Slaver - you can clearly see how the plastic legs were to be modified. In H.G. Wells' book it seems all the tripods had cages at the back of the hood; so making a container at the back of the hood may be sufficient to represent a Gatherer.
There are different images of the Dominator but one looks like a photo of an Assault tripod with an extra section in the middle to increase height and a missile launcher stuck on top; that conversion wouldn't be difficult. In the image in the rule book the legs seem the same, the mid-section is different but also taller, and the head is completely different than the Assault tripod's and more detailed. I suspect that to contain costs AD would have issued the Dominator as a modified Assault tripod kit, as they did for the Red Martian and Veteran tripod.
I have no idea what size Constructor Engines and Founder tripods were to be but the latter should probably be quite large, and the former about Slaver size (or smaller?). The smaller Rebel Miniatures tripod might be a good stand-in for a Constructor; in 'War of the Worlds' the Constructors are small and 6-legged.
I'd like to get a Harvester but doubt that is possible. Anyone good at sculpting?

I'm getting a Black Hat Miniatures Handling Machine to use as Gatherer as I like the thought of them being quiet low to the ground for ease of grabbing prey

I'm working on a Gatherer for some time and finally settled on using the Rebel miniature, with tentacles moved about and dropping weapons and a cargo container, which I get from the Reaper Miniatures Bones catalog #80036 $8.27 - chosen for size and the fact the top can be lifted (to reveal all the helpless human bits within). reaperminiatures.com They have a nice range of stuff in the Bones section, look at terrain tab. I also like the modern day Dumpster #80035 $4.99, which also can be open-topped. For the Dominator, there a nice looking 'rocket pod' in the Old Glorys Command Decision Weapons pack line. I was going to use that piece as a 'captured' rocket fitting for USA/Brit forces - they can't do the whole missle thing, but this one piece lead to a line of rocket batteries and emplacements
