Reading the rule again I've realized that Munitions Carriers can only be used with guns mounted in tanks or other vehicles. On first glance I thought it could be used for artillery units too and was going to attach them to my coil guns and heavy field guns. Has anyone tried that?
Too bad for the artillery units but now I have fewer conversions to do. I just saw a photo of the production Munitions Carrier on ebay and it's different than the one in the HC book - no MK IIc/III superstructure and an ammo rack like the one on the trailer on the roof. Not how I'd want to haul ammo around!

I didn't like the ammo rack on top as well. Made mine more a cargo carrier. Curiously, the historical fluff picture of US organization has munitions carriers in the infantry unit towed artillery company. I wouldn't have a problem with using them for field and heavy artillery. Though in the case of heavy arty maybe a little over kill given the rules already give a 3 gun heavy battery a crazy power rating.

Interesting theres a pic in the rule book (pg90) with a munitions carrier behind a batterly of HFGs. Everytime I read this forum, I learn something new - never realized that there is no mention of standard guns and vehicles in the tender rules! I believe the intent for the munitions tender was to include all arty - per the background TO&E. And remember its only 1 more shot, so 4 die per fire phase vs the normal 3 for the battery in question. Whether they're on mobile platforms or towed, the affect is one of the few human advantages on the battlefield.

You know when you see something on sale at a really good price, you like the models, but you think I need more core toys and don't have enough to spring for it all, you realise the rules of the game, the company producing the toys goes bust and disappears off planet, and you know you feel all sad that you didn't pick up said toys...

Very nice Munitions Carriers! I'm ordering a river mat from Cigar Box for 1/600 ACW ironclads, and the same mat you did for FoW and AQotMF.

Yes, I've been saving up for an order from them for a number of mats - like the 'No Mans Land', City Block, both Red Weed ones, the Beach, River, and Tundra. Considering the 3 pack offer (Ocean/Beach/Grassland) for Marine/Riverine operations. The Martian landscape one looks interested, particularly if you consider areas of the desert that have long been under Martian control (slowly turning to red planet look)!

Really begs a basic question vs any ammo carrier, to what degree does it have an effect on the unit in question. Ammo was a big thing for WW1 and there is some validation on the available amounts having an affect on battle outcomes. But, the thought of 'more' fire is another issue game balance wise. Not sure. Need to think and get others ideas on this.
