I learned by accident that Geohex is back selling new product.
They have a facebook page and are selling via Ebay.
For $125 (US) they can cover a 4 by 6 foot table, in true 3D, with gentle slopes and nearly unlimited combination. I very much covet their Major Rivers expansion. While pricey, it is magnificent.
12 inch hexes are "small" enough to be very versatile, but big enough not to give away range too easily.

Wow. Very cool. I still have quite a bit of Geohex. Nice to know that I can replace damaged tiles or add a bit more. I don't use it much for full tables anymore. Can be pretty fiddly, but I still make a lot of my hills from it.

Check out the "Major Rivers" set. That is new and looks awesome. Also, the new sets include repair kits. They may sell the repair kits separately.

Wow great news!! I have a few pieces and was saddened by the turn of events that lend to its original demise. Gads, more stuff to by. This will really help with my 'portable' 'software' style games using Paper Terrain. Of coarse price wise the stryofoam panels are much cheaper, but still! TY. The river set definitely is in my sights as just 4 of those pieces makes a really nice beach landing - just add stuff for the inshore area, good stuff but dang its expensive!! hardlec don't sell that last kidney man!

It looks like Cigar Box Battles has a beach mat in their line. Mates with grassland on one side and their water mat on the other.

The problem and benefit of mats is they don't charge. For some campaigns the stability is wonderful. For other campaigns, the ability to build a new landscape every time is necessary. GeoHex does both. This is not to say that Cigar box is anything less than fabulous, and their ACW offerings are Fabulous-cubed. I found a place that will buy marrow and one lobe of my liver, ;-) so with my limited resources of space and funds, I will go with GeoHex. If I use a blue tarp as an underlayment, I can do beaches and rivers. With Scott's terrain I have almost any option I want, AQMF wise. If I get the funds, I would eagerly get some Cigar Box. (Maybe I can sell my ....)

hardlec that is Not Funny Seriously, I like the Cigar Box stuff a lot and they have that nice trio for beach landings (3 mats - water, beach, grassland). I'm still in a little sticker shock about the Geohex - but, that river set looks great really and would do beach landings well. The first statement got me in a strange mind (me? really? lol) and thinking about a new game - Parts! - your band of cutthroats race through the back alleys and apartment complexes of thousands of worlds trying to claim the best Parts for clients and general sale. Most people and especially aliens, don't care to give them up leading to some combat action as you try to 'secure the corpse' while not damaging the Parts you're looking for. Minimum of 3 players (doc, gunner, pilot), but you can always use backup folks along the way. Intrigue as well as you try to buy into corporate lists, hospital needs, and look-the-other-way cops/military. Fun for all!

Larry Niven did a series of sci-fi stories about organleggers. Human chop-shops. That was before RPGs were popular. Good idea for one now, especially with vampires and zombies being so popular. I know how hard it is to type when the kitten insists the keyboard is a cat bed...

Yep, I've got two who like to 'help' me type - Moomcat (mother of all) is old and likes her time under the heat of the high intensity light and the belly rubs (she actually goes to sleep with those). Candle is up for chin 'screch' and I only let him up whilst I'm playing Civ V as I only need the mouse for that one. Cats are cool and for me usually helpfully soothing for my PTSD.

I remember those stories. I think there was a novel called "Patchwork Girl". I enjoyed Niven. Having a bit of a hard time finding sci-fi authors I regularly follow these days with the retirement and/or passing of so many from the so called golden age.

We once had a cat who liked to sleep on top of the upright piano. He always jumped up by jumping on the keyboard at the low end, walking to the high end and then jumping to the top. Getting down he would jump on the keyboard at the high end, walk to the low end and jump to the floor. Pretty spooky in the middle of the night until we figured out what he was doing.

Dogs have Masters.
Cats have staff.
My Kitten eats veggies. My Wife doesn't.
Cats are sane, and humans, well, it's debatable
