Okay thanks. Gives me a good look at what I need to cut to make the thing work well. Good stuff. I've been trying to get an order out to you guys for some time, but cat/vet bills and the need for a new dishwasher has been hitting my funds hard. Hopefully by months end I can send a nice fat order to you all

The new truck looks great and I've got lots of spare MG turrets - will be ordering soon! The first order from Conqueror arrived yesterday and the trucks are very nice models - I prefer them to the AQ Flivvers. I unboxed some assembled AQ Flivvers to compare to the Conqueror trucks and found that some of their front wheels had splayed out due to the flimsy axles and the weight of the models, especially with the heavy pewter casting for the canvas cover. The Conqueror truck axles are more robust and the models are lighter. My main complaint about the Conqueror trucks is the design of the armoured version. I think it would have been better with the turret mount a complete hole in the roof, instead of being incomplete so a turret would project over the cab roof. The hole size is too small for the AQ Flivver turret and too large for AQ plastic tank HMG turrets to fit properly. If the hole had been complete it would have been easy to enlarge it with a drill to take an AQ truck turret, or to eliminate by filling it with resin. To get rid of the hole for an ambulance conversion I have to either cover it with styrene 'plates', or temporarily cover the opening in the front wall of the truck body and fill it with resin. A minor complaint is that all of the wheels are identical so the hubs of the inner rear wheels have to be drilled out to install them. I filed the domed part of the hub level with the rest of the wheel, then drilled the axle hole all the way through with a 1/16" bit in a pin vice - a rather slow process. That said, I'll be ordering at least 6 more Liberty trucks and 1-2 more of the armoured version.

I've filled the hole in the roof of the Conqueror armoured truck and got a very good result.
First I filed off the two vertical ridges on either side of the hole in the front wall of the van body, then the ridge on the roof around the edges of the hole. I blocked off the vertical part of the hole in the front wall of the van with scrap pieces of 0.5mm thick sheet styrene, which is the same thickness as the horizontal ridge in front. Two pieces were butted up against the upper and lower edges of the ridge and a third piece glued across them. I mixed a small amount of gelcoat with catalyst and over filled the hole to allow for shrinkage during curing.
I let the gelcoat cure for about 15 hours, carefully trimmed off the styrene, then filed and wet sanded the gelocat (#180 and then #400 paper) until I had a smooth finish. The work took less than an hour and was easy to do. I'm going to fill the holes on all of the Conqueror armoured trucks I buy. A couple will be ambulances for artillery units and the rest will have an HMG on the roof.
Because all of the resin Robot Peanut armoured truck bodies I received were unusable (over-sanded so parts of the rear doors were removed and the sides were all uneven in height) I have the HMG turret castings from them to use on Conqueror armoured trucks. The turrets require a hole about 1/2" in diameter but the biggest bit that will fit in my drill is 3/8". Instead of drilling a hole I cut off the section of turret that's supposed to go inside the hole using a razor saw. I cut the figure with the HMG off its round base and glued the base in the shortened turret. Then I had to reduce the height of the figure by filing the underside until it sat at the right height. Now the turrets can be glued onto Conqueror armoured trucks after the holes in the roof have been filled.

I have 3 bits between 5/16" and 7/16" with 3/8" shafts but two local hardware stores didn't have any 1/2" bits. Rather than spending an hour or more checking out other stores I decided to modify the Flivver turrets. It only took 5-10 min each to alter the Flivver HMG turrets for flush mounting on the Conqueror roof.

Photos of Conqueror truck models: The first two photos are of the hole in the roof and front wall of the Armoured truck after being filled with gelcoat and filed/sanded. A form made of pieces of 0.5mm thick styrene was used to block off the side of the hole and retain the molded horizontal ridge. The sanded and primed armoured truck with an AQ truck HMG turret modified to be glued on flush with the roof. Not used on this model - it'll go on a command truck version. Finished model. The truck number used Microscale HO Railway Gothic 6" letters. The white square is a decal cut from a sheet of white decal paper for use in an inkjet printer; the red cross was made from a pair of 40K Inquisition 'I' decal symbols suitably trimmed. A Conqueror 'Liberty' truck. Colours used: Chaos Black primer, Vallejo Brown Violet base coat with Vallejo Green Gray highlight on truck body, Vallejo Khaki for canvas top, highlighted with a 1:2 mix of khaki and flat white. Tail lights are painted with Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet and headlights with Citadel Fenrisian Grey. Tires are flat black.

loyalist Cracking paint job on the trucks. Sorry you had to go through all the hassle with filling the MG position in, I will get a variant designed with the MG position filled in so you can have box body options without MG position. I am not sure why you had to drill the hubs of the rear wheels out, they are designed so that the hub of the inner wheel fits into the hole of the outer wheel - just needs a touch of superglue on inner hub to join them. Regards Andy conquerormodels.com Dohh! I never considered trying that. What drilling the holes accomplished was to get the wheels further in on the axle, with the innermost in contact with the frame. After my experiences with AQ Flivver axles bending easily I thought that would prevent the rear axles from bending or being broken off. Good idea about making a truck variant with the MG position filled in. I have 3 more on order and will be filling the holes on those - it takes relatively little time. When I order again I'll get the new box body option.

Xmas brought me a nice little delivery from Conqueror... HMLS Primrose Hill now has it's contingent of Wheeler Tanks, and Patton's Boys will soon take delivery of an ammo tank, fuel tank, tesla tank (although I think it might be a Swan Electric Cannon Tank), and three howitzer guns.
Pictures to come soon...

Harbor Freight tools sells a box set of Forstner style drill bits, up to 1 inch with .375 shafts. The Forstner bits have a nearly flat bottom. I use the smaller sizes for adding magnets.
