The need to counter both riverine and coastal ships prompted the construction of these monsters nickname 'Red' and 'Blue'. All human air recon units in the north American continent are frantically searching for the location of the another build of these things - Martians prefer threes in everything.
Ships Bane Tripod @2000 Speed 4" Defense 4 Armor 13 Special: 360 degree arc of fire all weapons; Accurate - all weapons have no -2 for inaccuracy; All weapons have Independent Targeting, for example the both rocket launchers can fire a separate targets; Ships Bane Damage Table (see below).
Ranges are given in the following format: Tabletop/1:300/1:600/1:2400 similar to the Ships ranges under that thread.
(2) Rocket Launchers: Range 205"/68"/24"/8" +5 Power Barrage 4 Special: n/a
(2) Missile Launchers: Range 150"/50"/25"/6" +4 Power Barrage 3 Special: + 2 To Hit.
(2) Green Gas Launchers: Range 180"/63"/32"/7.5" +4 Power Barrage 4 Special: n/a
(3) Black Dust Dispenser: Range 150"/50"/25"/6" +4 Power Barrage 4 Special: n/a
(1) Sun Ray: Range 60"/20"/10"/2" +6 Power Rate-of-fire 1 Special: No Sweeps ; Is NOT a Sun Gun.
Ships Bane Damage Table: Roll a d10: 1-5; Light Damage, Armor permanently reduced by 1.
6; Movement Hit, each hit reduces the movement rate of the tripod by .5 inches, if reaches 0", cannot move remainder of the game, Armor permanently reduced by 1.
7; Weapons Hit, Armor permanently reduced by 1, roll for weapon destroyed: 1/Sun Ray; 2-4/Black Dust Dispenser; 5-6 Green Gas Launcher;
7-8 Missile Launcher; 9-10 Rocket Launcher. Reroll any hit on a weapon already destroyed.
8; Tripod badly damaged. All weapons (except Missile Launchers) lose Accuracy and are now Inaccurate (-2 To Hit). Armor is reduced by d5 points. If Armor goes below 0, the tripod takes a Critical Hit. If it takes 5 or more Critical Hits, it is destroyed.
9; Tripod gravely damaged. As number 8 above, plus takes 3 automatic Critical Hits.
10; Tripod dying. Use #7, 8, and 9 above. If the maximum of 5 Critical Hits are taking, Tripod implodes, doing hits to all units within 6", any element caught in this implosion is destroyed out right. The Void is unforgiving...
This monster is strong enough to take on a good size force all by itself. The humans are fearful there is another one in the making somewhere - 'Green' or 'Purple' or 'Orange', whatever the 'name' its bad news, especially New Orleans, the MS River line, and any ship or boat in support of an operation. Typical tactics are to just advance onto the battlefield, killing anything in its path to bring weapons to bear on any naval support out there. Its only weakness is the relatively low Armor - this due to the huge 'eye' that isn't quite as strong as the body. Martian players will have a lot of glee when this thing hits the table and begins it slow advance across the table. Human forces will need to concentrate everything they have on it. Another tactic is to assault it, as a +3 Assault has a chance to hurt it.
PS - here you go! OOB might be forthcoming, well maybe; I just shudder to feature these things anywhere, as they can give a fright to any full battalion supported by ships! Just look though some of my OOBs with 4000+ points and ships/rivering boats. Its horrid to think of two of these things working together. Cities could fall! Have to Mike!
