This unit is made up of motorcycle and tricycle mounted infantry with support from Withworth AT guns and Mounted Rifles of the KY 1st Cavalry. I used a paint scheme based on the Bersaglieri's uniform for the unit so I can either use the force as Italian Americans with the Chicago Mechanized Militia or KY Cavaliers attached to any unit working either along the Mississippi river or in IL. All of the figures except for the Fiat 621* truck are from the Eureka Miniatures line of WW2 Italians, specifically the Bersaglieri troops. Note that they also include Light Mortars and Light MG, both teams of two being prone. All the trike transport include ammo for the guns/mortars they carry.
All Cavalier/Militia forces have 'Elan' for +1 on Morale Rolls. If Chicago Mech Militia fighting in IL, you get an additional +1 on rolls for In-state.
HQ: Officer, (2) LMG w/4 crew, (2) SMG armed NCOs @30 + FC @30 = 60/1 unit
Mtd above - Motorcycle (Ofc), Motorcycle riding double (2 NCOs), Trike, (LMG crew), Trike Transport (LMGs) @60/1 unit (both trikes have additional LMG fired by driver when stationary)
Sub Machine Gun (SMG) @0pts Rng 10" +1Pow RF 2 Spec: attached at no cost.
Infantry Squad: (1) Motorcycle (NCO), (4) Motorcycle riding double (4 crew & 8 Riflemen), (1) Trike Transport (LMTR) @30 = 30/1 unit
LMTR @5pts Rng 10" +1Pow RF2 Special: 2 crew
Mortar Squad: (1) Motorcycle (NCO), (4) Motorcycle riding double (8 crew), (1) Trike Transport (MMTR) @40 = 40/1 unit
(NCO fills 9th crew slot - each medium mortar has 3 crew)
Machine Gun Squad: (6) Motorcycles with MGs, in pairs of two (like Rough Rider Squad) @90 = 90/1 unit [-1 To Hit if moved before fire phase]
Anti-Tripod Guns: 3 x (1) Fiat 621 truck*@5 with MG @10 each with (1) Whitworth ATgun & 3 crew @60 each = 75/1 unit x 3 = 225/6 units.
Whitworth AT gun: 1 element = 1 unit @60 Speed 2* Defense 3 Armor 4 Special: *man-handled or towed. Range 30" +2/+3 Power Barrage 1* Special: 3 crew, HE/AT shells, *Barrage with HE only, Accurate - +1 To Hit due to special barrel (hexagonal).
Each truck & gun acts independently.
(1) Mounted Rifles Squad of 15 figures {Old Glory 15TRT-106} @50 = @50/1 unit [fires from saddle; +3 Explosive Saddlebag Assault].
(1) Mounted Infantry Squad of 15 figures {Old Glory 15ACW-058} @35 = 35/1 unit [dismounts to fight].
Total Force = 590 points in 12 units = BP 56 [2 order tokens] *(trucks are non-BP) At 60% (Elan) = 354 Break Point. In-state Morale bonus doesn't count for %=BP.
This was on the AD forum back a while; I've updated it with recent thoughts on various topics we've discussed here. Note that this Is Not the same as the Texas Recon force. Although the figures from Eureka work find, they will look a little out of place among the tans and greens of the TX units. Of coarse, I'll probably buy some more of Eureka minis, as a lot of their WW2 line ("15 mm really 18 mm) work really fine for various odd TO&Es. Other examples are for a Japanese/Chinese Expeditionary force for the Sierra Front and more Italians as Elite Chicago units from the Folgier line (sp) and finally several Australian units formed from survivors of the Martian overrun of their home country.
PS: using the Ratio Rules, all of the above mentioned units become potent forces with the advantage of not having to buy more Eureka figures
